What tie down points are you using to trailer your FJ40?

As a former dealership warranty administrator, we made (too) many warranty claims from tiedown transport damage.
Possible methods include:
Tiedowns not pulled down tight enough, allowing car to compress over bumps, then rebound against tiedowns, eventually tearing tiedown out of the unibody.
Tiedowns ratcheted down so hard that tiedowns were bent or ripped off.
Tiedowns pulling the car so low that parts of the car (looking at you, diecast 944 oilpans) banged on the trailer & were damaged.

That being said, the plural of anecdote is not data.
Secure the load safely with non-chicomm straps or chain binders, make sure trailer tire/brakes/bearings/brake lights are in good shape, slow down.

I run the chain under the axle and up and over the leaf spring, then hook the hook back on to the chain making a loop around the spring with my flipped ubolts/axle as a stop. In the frt I use a chain rachet. It's very solid and nothing is in the way.

We want to trailer Miss Scarlet to some places rather than driving. Cost of gas, wear and tear, etc. I wanted to use axel straps but the darn brake lines are in the way. Grrrrr. When we brought her home last year I did the no-no of using the shackles. Would appreciate your sage wisdom.
I chimed in earlier for what I use when I trailer my 40. I just got back from a 800 mile round trip, winding mountain passes, steep grades. I use 5/16 chain and chain binders and just took these pics today before unloading. I wouldn’t use straps but that my opinion and I’m not here to argue with someone that uses them. The poster wants to know how we tie our rigs down. I’ve never seen a piece of equipment tied with straps, and straps will stretch when they get wet. Towed to Moab with this setup at 80 MPH ( legal limit in Utah for everyone). Note that I use the spring hangers on rear, no brake lines to worry about and this setup is rigid.
