I thought I read these rims are 5.5" wide? They look alot wider than that, I have split rims that I am putting on my RHD BJ42 for I am doing a resto (I know all about the hazards with them) on it. Has anyone put 33 x 10.5" on a stock OEM toyota wheel? I am wanting to go 33 x 10.5 x 16 BFG AT's for I have a 2.5" OME heavy suspension, I know I have seen 9.5"'s on them but dont know about 10.5's?

10.5 are fine to put on oem split rims

i have seen mostly skinnyer tyres...but...you can.

I do like the skinnyer look however of 9.5's

I run Toyo M55's, 255/85r16 which are 33.3" tall 10.4" wide tires on my split rims

look at the pics of my white rig in my sig line...for comparison my spare is a 34x9.5 TSL

where can i find tires like that in the pics, i love those old school m/ts

I've think you could run something up to a Q78 (~36" x 10") or a 38.5" x 11" Bogger on them if you wanted to.

yes I am wanting something around 9.5 wide but not alot out there in an all terrain tire. The BFG A/T 235/85-16 is not really even 32" but is 9.5 wide and the 255/85-16 is 10.5 wide and a little over 33" tall. I love the look of the skinny tires.

that looks awesome, and great thread, thanks. Looks like I will be going with the 255/85-16's now

Hi Rob.

I'm running 235/85 R16 tyres without lift.

If you look at tyre manufacturers' data (from BF Goodrich and others) you'll see that they reckon even these tyres are too wide for the skinny 5 1/2" wide splitrims we run.

But I don't have any "handling issues" with my vehicle when running my tyres so you may be lucky too.

The only issue I did have was my RH tyre fouling my draglink ("pitman-arm-end" of course) when at full-lock on rough terrain. And I cured that by having the pitman arm bent so the draglink runs closer to the steering box support.

Here is an old pic of my front left 235/85 R16 tyre:
