What plugs in this wire?

As you can see, I had some Cruiser love tonight. I figured out how to get the bulb out of the back of my light switch, I found the wires to hook up the dash knob illumination light (which has never been hooked up since I have owned the truck - I'm excited to see it tonight :D), and did a couple other odds and ends. But I am wondering what is supposed to plug in this wire (the one next to the idle solenoid wire) - my truck is a 10/76 Federal spec, but according to SOR I think I have a carb from a 9/77-12/78 Federal spec truck. So maybe this doesn't do anything.

It looks like it plugs into a solenoid or something on the side of the carb, down low. But it's different than the idle solenoid - are there two solenoids?

Anybody?

Okay I figured out it plugs into the sensor or whatever that is in the front of the carb, just below and left of the sight glass. Trying to figure out what that is and what it needs right now...

Okay, since I think my carb is from a 9/77-12/78 and my truck is supposed to have a carb for 8/76-8/77 (which doesn't have the sensor this wire goes to) my thinking is that this wire is going to the manifold thermo sensor for USA, which controls the carb cooling fan, which my truck doesn't have and doesn't have provisions for. I think I'm good. Thanks for looking.

That is the carb flange thermo sensor. It controls the EGR valve along with the BVSV and computer. When the carb flange is cool, it will keep the EGR valve closed. When the carb flange is hot, it will turn on the EGR valve (as long as the BVSV is open).

Nuh-uh. Carb fan sensor is under the manifold, behind the carb, above the steering box, across from the carb fan.

You sound like a pro. Did you pass yet?

Okay but I still don't think my truck originally came with that sensor, so I'm thinking I don't have to hook it up to 12V or anything right?
