Since I just had a brand new Optima yellow top go bad on me (putting out 9 CCA, but showing 12.5V) and another die on me on trail at GSMTR (20 CCA and 12.5V), I realized I've made bad life battery choices. I need to start looking into a better brand.

What battery do you use?

I have an Interstate from Costco and three or four Duralasts from Vadozone. I have had good luck with them all but the Interstate from Costco was by far the best deal going on the best rated battery I found.

Optima ain't what they used to be.

I like the interstate as well. Helps there is a store in GSO. I had the 27f go bad in the 80 with a 5 yr warranty but they now have a 2 yr full replacement period before the pro rated refund kicks in. I was two weeks shy and he swapped me out with new no problem. Not sure why it was failing but appreciated the customer service

Theres only a handful of mfg.
dekka, johnson, and a few others so see who is behind the label you are looking at

Lots of folks use walmart with good 5-8 yr results and the ability to do an easy swap about anywhere if needed

Duracell batteries from batteries plus bulbs are rebranded dekas and are supposed to be really good.

I've got duralast AGMs in my ford, but they're fresh. I've got Sears Die-Hard Platinum P2s in moonshine, but they're older rebranded odysseys.

I wish the Sears diehard platinum were still odysseys. The one I have in my gray 40 is 5 years old and just now started to get used. Great battery. Had the same one in a previous 80.

If had to buy one now, I'd likely go for one of the Duralast rebranded dekas like @GLTHFJ60 mentioned above.

Ditto on the rebranded Deka AGM's, as well as the Batteries+ X2Power (rebranded Northstar AGM). I have the X2/Northstar in my GX and it's been stellar.

I had a Duralast in the Cruiser that was not able to keep up with cold weather and the demands of a fridge. I replaced it with an Interstate from Costco for $84. The Interstate had the exact same specs and housing as the Duralast and I have no doubt it will last 5+ years like the Duralast. I went with one cheap battery over one large expensive battery in preparation for moving to a dual battery setup for house supply. On the other hand, I'm too cheap to buy the second battery box and wiring just yet.

Duracell from Sams club have been good to me. Plus they are relatively easy to get replaced if they do go bad ( I have not had one go bad within warranty ..... yet)

However you will have them go bad before the warranty runs out, right? ;)

Costco interstates. about $80 and better cca’s than the $120 Interstates that you get directly at the interstate store.

Not yet. The Duracells in the 74 are still going strong after 3 years (per the new owner of that truck). The deep cycle ones I put in the RV well exceeded the typical 12 months of life ....

The interstate MTP is hard to beat pricewise.

I put one in the cruiser in 2010 and it is still going strong.

Another vote for Interstate batteries from Costco. If you can find a member to buy you a $10 gift cart then you don't need a membership to shop in the store for that trip.

My Sears Platinums in the 2004 4Runner seemed to be dieing quicker than expected, but the dual battery system in that was kinda weak.

Given my LX sits in a parking lot and rarely gets drive, i OBVIOUSLY need sealed AGM batteries.

Therefore, I bought the Duracell Ultra Platinum sealed batteries for it. . . . .

My Tundra dual battery system is doing great with the X2 products. Those were high $$ tho :(

Duralast ,or Duracell, battery plus sells Duracell, I ask because I too I'm looking. My diehard platinum that I have been saving for my dual battery setup is finally going bad after 8 years .

Good catch, my bad. Will correct the above post.

Duracell batteries are the rebranded Dekas.
