I think I have a power steering leak on my 1997 LC 80. Looking for it I found a metal box ion the frame just in front of the drivers side motor mount. It has a hose hanging from it ( small like windshield washer sized) and there is a hose clamp on the end but its not hooked to anything. It hands down almost to the top of the front axle. I have no idea what this device is not where that hose should go. If anyone knows please respond. Thanks. Keith.

A picture would help but I believe @CharlieS is correct.

I had wondered if it might be an axle breather. If it is the the hose is off of the axle and I could not see where it attached. I didn't grab a picture but will try and get one tomorrow. It is covered with PS fluid as is most of the stuff under there. Cleaning things up so I can hopefully see what exactly is leaking.

I was blasting through snow drifts on the Rising Sun Snow run and noticed this after that. Maybe I broke off the nipple where the breather attaches to the axle. Thanks.

Old hose and spring clamp will easily pull lose off the axle. Any water crossings, if so you may want to change your axle’s gear oil. Good time to replace that hose and connect to a breather higher in the engine bay.

All the above: run a oil resistant hose from that pipe assembly up to the engine bay, install a small fuel filter into the open end, then zip tie the hose to any bracket. Leave it long enough so when the vehicle is jacked up and the axle droops it won't pull loose.
