I may have seen this a few years ago in North Scottsdale - nobody in it at the time

but then, maybe not

I think owner's name is Scott. IIRC he used to live in Sierra Vista.

Tommy, did you notice (or ask) if it had ARB's f&r?

I didn't ask about the ARB. I just asked what year. He said it was an 82 and had it imported from Canada. He did a lot of work to get it where it's at today. His wife was with him and they take turns driving. They like to hold hands with his wife on the beach and his favorite color is blue. That's all I know :)

It is a nice looking 40 but it looks like a 77 to me. I few things stand out as pre 79. The bib and bezel is easy to replace. The cowl should have the rib running all the way down thru the running board. The Ambulance doors are rounded on the outside corner. I would be curious how a early tub was mounted on a 82 frame. Being it was from Canada it may have a replacement tub. A aftermarket tub is something I have never dealt with one so not sure how acurate they are. No mather what year it looks to be a very nicely set up FJ40.

 I didn't see as where I knocked this 40 in anyway. It was said to be a 82. It doesn't appear to be a 82. The difference between a 77 and 82 is alot. Being in AZ I would take a 82 over a 77. Thinner metal and 3:70 diffs are two of the down sides of a 79 and later. In AZ rust isn't a issue. And gears are easy to to replace. Fine splined pinions, split transfer case, factory power steering and A/C in the later cruisers are all nice upgrades. I said it was a nice cruiser but I also stated the tub looks pre 79. 78 to 79 was a big change for the FJ40. 78 and earlier the tubs switch easy. The same with 79 and later. But switching the a earlier tub and later frame not to easy. I was just making a statement about what I know about the 40 series. If I had a cruiser that clean I doubt I would wheel it very hard. It's really hard to take the time to restore something just to put it in hards way. The main reason I will never do a restore to my 68. I like being able to take it where I want and not worry if I putting another dent in it:cheers:

Restored, POS, scratch n' dent, buffed, or whatever : If it makes the owner happy thats all that matters.

I don't see any reason to get panties in a wad? It is the intertard web, difficult to tell the "tone" of the writer, but don't take it personal. I took her comment as a complement to the owner for using the rig as intended, not a shot at others who choose differently? .... However, if you are feeling guilty about the garage queen thing, there is an easy/fun way to solve that problem!;p:hillbilly:

Living in Sedona I see 40's all the time. There's a sweet mustard yellow one own the street wth ammo boxes attached to the front fender, sound familiar? I'll take some pics when I get a chance. I want one so bad..

I didn't think you knocked anybody, nor did I take anything personal or intend my post to be taken personally

I was just commenting that it matters much less what year/detail/shape it is in, as long as it indeed makes it on a trail ;p

when is the next time we are we going to see you on the trail ? :flipoff2:

Is this the akward moment where we all do a group hug now?

Sounds like a good idea. How about in my garage. While we are there we can throw a clutch in my 68:rolleyes: My mistake was letting my son use it when ever he was up at the cabin:bang:

All I need to do to this one is throw in a set of E-lockers and it should be ready to go that and get the title back from my ex son-inlaw:frown:

and, just if we were into historic details . . .

. . . for a 68, it's got the wrong bezel ;p
