After putting on stock steelies and 10.50 tires a few years ago, I thought the plastic rear fender flares made my rear end look fat. I was at Home Depot a few days ago and this piece of galvanized strap caught my eye. I thought, I've got nothing to do, so I gave it ago. The previous owner obviously was snockerd when he cut the fenders with a sawsall.

Wish I had made the radias bends a a bit more mild, but I didn't have a clue what I was doing. Tacked the new "flare" on the back side of the wheel well and sealed it all with seam sealer. I'm happy with it.:meh:

I have my fourteen year old son working with me so I can't let him know. Do you need to support the engine when you pull the transmission with the Bell housing? And how do I get to this bolt ?

The bell housing supports the engine, however, when removing the transmission and transfer case you leave the bell housing in place. How are you planning to remove the tranny and TC? Are you working with jack stands or do you have a lift? In any case the T & TC are heavy as one unit as such you will need at least a hydraulic jack to lower them down, it might be easier with a helper. BTW I used a socket to remove that bolt. Good luck and let us know if you have any questions.

If I need to remove the flywheel and clutch assembly in order to get to the rear main seal can I do it with the Bell housing in place?

Thanks for the info

Yes. You can rotate the clutch assembly to remove all the bolts without removing the bell housing. The bell housing has two bolts behind the clutch, so it stays in place.

Here's my rear main seal with the bell housing in place.

If you noticed the two bolts above the RMS those hold the bell housing in addition to the external ones.

Thanks I was stressing over that.that bolt that I am pointing to is there a Access point for it?.
I am doing this in my drive way.I plan on using a engine hoist to lower it down on to a dolly.

OK that's good. Using a hoist is a great idea and safer, you'll need to remove the transmission hump, once removed the two upper transmission bolts will be exposed and more accessible from inside the truck, I removed them from bellow without any issues. I documented my clutch replacement on my thread but it's scattered thru the first five or six pages, check my sig for a link.

I used a transmission jack to remove and re-install.
