Interior refresh done on my new to me 200. New steering wheel and every single piece of trim on the center console. The PO must of had claws for hands. All OEM parts used. Bonus Hamilton CarPlay added as well.

Original wheel was in decent shape. Not a fan of wood grain steering wheels was the reason for replacement. If anyone is interested in the wheel, I’ll be listing it in the classified section.

Nice. Were your 18s E load? What about the 17?
Both old and new are Load range E. Last night my wife went out with me in the 200, and she asked how I smoothed out the ride - gotta be the extra rubber, since I'm actually running them a couple psi higher than the 18's

Yeah, I noticed a nice improvement dropping from 18 to 17 wheels too.

Going from 33s, 35s, and 37s on 18s incrementally provided a nice improvement in ride as well. So yes, couple ways to get more rubber.

How do you like the replacement all-leather steering wheel? Does it feel high quality?

I’ll probably stick with the stock wheel, but I am tempted. My wheel is in decent shape but it does have two small chips in the leather portion of the wheel, which makes me wonder if it’s only a matter of time before it starts shedding like so many other stock LC wheels.

You’ve already done the prep legwork! Invest in a good wipe-on ceramic coating and finish the job right. I use “CarPro D.Quartz,” available on Amazon. You only need the 30mL bottle.

Before you ceramic coat it, give it another wash. Then DRY IT WITH AN ELECTRIC LEAF BLOWER. Blow out any crevices where water may be. And when you think it is finally dry, let it dry some more.

Prep the paint with 91% isopropyl and some clean microfibers. Mask off your plastic trim where it meets the paint.

Do all this in the garage and then let it sit and cure as long as you can (72 hours is ideal) and don’t get it wet for about a week. Check with the manufacturer of the ceramic coating that you go with regarding applying additional coats.

Don’t forget your wheels.

Thanks for the advice! I will admit I’ve been on the fence about whether to do a true ceramic coat. I finished my paint correction a few days ago, but now my LC is just sitting in the garage waiting for me to decide which product to use to seal/protect.

Maybe I just need to pull the trigger and go with a wipe-on coating. I like the convenience of a spray product that I can just incorporate into my routine. But I’ve read that the true ceramic coatings are in a league of their own when it comes to protection, longevity, quality, etc.

Much better than the original wood grain wheel. Leather is supple and gives a more modern feel imo. I did use a new OEM wheel so fit and finish is perfect. Heating function works as it should. One thing to note, the lack of wood does not mean the new wheel is heated all around. The heating elements are in the same locations as the original wheel.

You've come this far, do one more prep and give it the legit ceramic coating. I'm an unpaid gtechniq shill, so anything they have (CSL in your case) would be amazing. The spray on stuff is a waste of your prep imo given the lengths you have gone to at this point. HTH

Finally came to the conclusion I really didn't want spacers. Since I was needing new wheels to clear my suspension without them, decided I could also go to a 17" wheel to gain a little sidewall. So, out with my 305/65R18 KO2's and TRD/BBS Forged wheels and in with 285/75R17 KO3's mounted to Icon Vector 5's:

Noticeable difference/improvement in ride quality with the extra rubber!

Looks great. I've been considering a VERY similar wheel/tire setup. Curious if you have any rubbing against the KDSS at any point - flexed/stuffed/forward/reverse/etc.
