Today I performed an oil and filter change at 19,996 miles. Cleanest one yet -- sort of. After replacing filter, flipping back the Fumoto valve switch, and replacing skids, I poured the majority of a gallon jug of trusty Amsoil in through the funnel as I've done on all my previous changes.
I should note that we're renovating the backyard so the garage is beyond cluttered and I only had half the LC in the bay. I went to check the dipstick and saw nothing. Checked under the truck and saw no drips or puddles so I presumed that maybe the vehicle wasn't level or something. I drove it around my house to park on the street in front. The low engine oil warning came on. Oil pressure gauge same as always. I shut it off and started it again. Warning came on again. I reset the maintenance reminder and then started it again. Low oil warning.
Popped the hood, looked around. There was a little oil adjacent to the fill hole, but nothing alarming. I checked the dipstick again. Nothing showing up. Under the truck, no runs, drips, or puddles -- WTF?
Retrieved another gallon of Amsoil from the garage. This time I removed the plastic engine cover and scrutinized while I refilled incrementally. This time it was registering on the dipstick in between increments. Eventually put in nearly the entire jug.
Now low oil light warning is off and dipstick is correct. Oil pressure gauge is the same (not sure why they put this in the rig since it doesn't seem to vary ever). Still no oil dripping and no puddle. Where in the hell did the first gallon of synthetic oil go?
