Blackstone oil analysis came back today. At 53k miles, I only did it so I'd have a baseline to work from. I only drove 4600 miles since purchasing from the dealer at 49k miles. However about 20% of that was towing and 60% was heavy city driving, especially during winter with a lot of idling (wife was getting 6.5-8 MPG) or short trips.

Pic didn't load, can you re-attach? Thanks.

Had my rear diff resealed yesterday. It had sprung a leak. While my guy had the rear diff dismantled he noticed the o-ring on the ARB air inlet had a leak. All that is buttoned up now and looks good.
@aMiR904 was telling me that he had heard of the air inlet leaking and possibly a factory defect that is a known issue. I didn't research it but it was an issue on mine. I'm glad he shared that info w/ me. If you have a rear air locker check it out. This was a public service announcement. Go on about your day

Linuxgod, thank-you for sharing your Blackstone report. This is the first one I've seen. I'm going to have my 80 and my Hundy tested.

Ordered my Blackstone Oil kit today. Thanx, Linuxgod, for lighting a fire under my butt to find out how my 130k motor is doing.

REAR CARGO LIGHTING

Saw what a few others have done on Rear Cargo Lighting and it just was not what I wanted. Since I have an ARB Drawer system, I need the light to be on the lift gate door in the middle rather than at the top. This puts light right where you need it. I also didn't think that hard wiring to my rear power or to the lights was really needed for such a small light.

So I found a 20 LED Rechargable light on Amazon for $19.99 delivered. Works perfect. Charged it will run I think like 10 hrs. The base is stuck on with quality 3M adheisive and the the light snaps to the base with a magnet. Easy to pop off and recharge with any apple charger but secure enough it should not come off off roading. On for 15 sec at a time if it senses infer-red motion and it is dark. Very Bright.

I mounted so that it does not blind you and the light goes down where needed. May be the best $20 upgrade I done yet!

Today I performed an oil and filter change at 19,996 miles. Cleanest one yet -- sort of. After replacing filter, flipping back the Fumoto valve switch, and replacing skids, I poured the majority of a gallon jug of trusty Amsoil in through the funnel as I've done on all my previous changes.

I should note that we're renovating the backyard so the garage is beyond cluttered and I only had half the LC in the bay. I went to check the dipstick and saw nothing. Checked under the truck and saw no drips or puddles so I presumed that maybe the vehicle wasn't level or something. I drove it around my house to park on the street in front. The low engine oil warning came on. Oil pressure gauge same as always. I shut it off and started it again. Warning came on again. I reset the maintenance reminder and then started it again. Low oil warning.

Popped the hood, looked around. There was a little oil adjacent to the fill hole, but nothing alarming. I checked the dipstick again. Nothing showing up. Under the truck, no runs, drips, or puddles -- WTF?

Retrieved another gallon of Amsoil from the garage. This time I removed the plastic engine cover and scrutinized while I refilled incrementally. This time it was registering on the dipstick in between increments. Eventually put in nearly the entire jug.

Now low oil light warning is off and dipstick is correct. Oil pressure gauge is the same (not sure why they put this in the rig since it doesn't seem to vary ever). Still no oil dripping and no puddle. Where in the hell did the first gallon of synthetic oil go?

Doesn't it hold 7.14 quarts of oil in all?

7.14 quarts is just 0.86 quarts shy of 2 gallons. So...it seems like it makes sense that your first gallon being in there wouldn't get you even close to full. Am I missing something? One gallon would still leave you a full 3.14 quarts low.

LMAO! You're right, of course -- which one of us is on narcotics?!

7.9 us liquid quarts =
1.975 us liquid gallons

Guess my brains a bit scattered with all the renovation crap.

Hooray! That's the first time since being on heavy drugs in the hospital that I actually made more sense than anyone NOT on drugs. heehee You just made my day... hahaha

On the other hand...I'm pretty sure I don't even want to try to change my oil on my 200...so kudos to you for doing it yourself.

By the time I have to mess with removing ARB skids, etc., it's just not worth it...when I can have Toyota do it for barely more than it costs to buy the oil alone.

It really isn't that bad to change it, tho the engineers could have clearly made it easier. I just weigh the headache of doing it myself vs the headache of whatever unexpected idiotic events will transpire at the dealership. I'm running out of dealerships to go to. So far 2 of the 3 local ones I've deemed to be untrustworthy (not maliciously so, just inept)...

Of course, based on my performance today, I'm questioning my own competence, lol. I guess it goes to my first rule of working on my vehicles -- don't rush and don't allot a specified amount of time for the job...

We have one of the best LC dealers in the country here (Camelback Toyota) While I enjoy changing my oil, it's actually cheaper with our club discount to have CBT change it. (and less messy) The experience is actually pleasant, quick and painless. I will however remove the oil skid, so they can get in there easily, and i can subsequently review after the fact. As long as mine is still under the Toyota warranty, i'll let CBT do the servicing. Honestly though, were CBT not in my backyard, I would be doing it myself.

Yes. Swapped both out this weekend. I think it looks great. My wife hates it and said she doesn't want to drive it anymore. Win/win.
Hah, I hear that after every mod, give it a week or two and she will proly love it!
