Curious about the BP-51s also with small bumps.

Changed over to Bilsteins and potholes now are much more jarring on the Toyo Backcountry tires.

What's your tire pressure? I ask because when I first had my KO2's mounted, the shop put WAAAAY too much pressure at around 48PSI. That, in combination with my improperly pre-loaded BP-51s, and it was a jarring ride.

With my coilovers now properly pre-loaded, and my tires at a more reasonable pressure, small bumps are handled amazingly well. Seems like the faster I hit the small stuff, the better it feels...and big bumps? -Soaks them up INCREDIBLY well. On many occasions in dirt or on dirt roads, I've seen passengers sort of "brace" themselves as they see an approaching bump, rut, or dip...and then to a person, they say something like, "Oh! Where'd that bump go?" Best one was while on my uncle's large property with many dirt roads. He knows his bumps & dips well, and as we flew towards one, he said, "Woooooahh!! Look out! That's a BAD one!" I just flew through it and he was amazed. the BP-51's are incredibly good at soaking up bump in turns...even that hit only one side of the truck. It's especially impressive how it doesn't usually even require redirection with steering. Just eats it up like it's nothing.

The other cool thing I'm enjoying is how easy it is to adjust compression and rebound when you know you'll be on a particular terrain type or carrying a particular load.

It would be interesting to hear from others on the pressure. Surely you can air them way down for off-road stuff, right? 40 minimum seems high.

Maybe some of our experts will chime in, as I'm no expert... I'm running 35 right now, and have gone WAY below that various times.

But I was talking about Daily driver on road small bumps while under normal pressure.

Safe pressure is all about load, Gaijin is the resident expert and has calculated the correct safe pressure for your tires using the tables from the manufacturer. I'm pretty sure you can find his posts.

I would not recommend high speed driving on 35 PSI it's really under inflated for those tires.

Ya, 35 is measured cold. On-road driving it's up around 39ish...

Maybe a few pounds is more critical than I think...but I can run these off-road at under 20...so somewhere in there is some unofficial wiggle room...isn't there?

Just drove 4000+ miles over 9 days, and handling/ride was excellent...

My mountain bike tires call for massive pressure too...but I ride at 24PSI. I dunno... Thinking there's a little more leeway.

I noticed that his post says that the pressures required are the same for D and E tires for weight. ? Confusing stuff...

It is confusing, indeed I would never have thought that my size requires more PSI than a 285/70/17 but then the weight of the tire is different.
Wish the tire industry would have a simpler way for us simple minded folk to figure it out.
Going from the standard P metric to an LT is a lot more complicated than I expected.

I run my E-rated Toyos at 40 PSI. I tried them as low as 35 but didn't really notice a difference.

What new suspensions will improve the Day to day drive at normal speed over regular roads while improving Off road and lifting our beasts?

I made the stupid mistake of ordering one per blinker bulb, but you only need one.

It goes under your steering column after popping off several plastic panels. Some are screwed on, others need panel poppers to remove safely.

There is another post on here somewhere with pictures, but the install takes about 30 mins top .

Just got her back from the shop. The OME lift with UCA's and medium springs feel great. The shop was a bit reluctant to do the install in that they had never dealt with KDSS. After a call to Kurt, they went ahead and did it. All seems well except on speed bumps I sometimes can hear a snap sound coming from the driver side shock/strut. Anyone experience this? I am going to just drive it and let it "settle" and not go back to the shop. I'm not sure they want to see me again anyway..On another note, this rig looks ridiculous with stock tires. I have a set of Fuel "Beast" rims that are 18X9 20MM offset. Most posts I have read say go with BFG KO2 275/70/18. Will this tire size fill up the big gaps in my wheel wells? I have decided to go BFG, nothing else. Thanks for your input!

Nice! Coming along nicely. I don't know about that snap sound though, I would definitely take a look at that--there shouldn't be any weird sounds like that.

Thanks! That "snap" sound doesn't happen all the time, the ride/feel seem excellent but I agree, it should not be there. I will give it some time. I plan to go to the tire store tomorrow for bigger tires...any input on sizes?

ask the tire shop to check your bolts / nuts on the top of you shock mounts - some have found those to work loose after an install such as you just went through.

Ih8dirt, please tell us how the ironman fcp ride once you've done enough driving. I have that exact set up but am working on getting my kdss valves unstuck so I can get them installed. Your LC looks great! Any problems with the install?

I've only done around 350 miles on them, but so far they seem good. They ride a bit more rough than stock suspension, however, they seem to deal with larger bumps much easier, especially at higher speeds. Overall, the truck feels more stable with less nose dive and body roll. I only did a little offroading on them, but so far they seem good. And I feel so much more comfortable with more ground clearance. I now also feel like I could add a bit of weight (winch, etc.) without any problems, I actually feel the ride would be even better with a bit more weight added.

I wasn't installing it myself, and I had to install it at some shop I don't even know to get the warranty on the shocks. They didn't know how to deal with KDSS, so the truck was leaning on one side quite a lot when they finished. Then I went to the shop I know and they dealt with KDSS, turned out it's pretty straightforward, so now it's okay. Didn't finish alignment yet. I have dealt with toe, but not with camber yet. I don't have adjustable arms though, so I feel like it would be a problem for now. Overall, the install was pretty easy without any problems.

Decided to go the 275 BFG AT KO2 route. The price was right and I am through with any more "mods" for awhile. Can I squeeze this larger tire in the spare compartment? I'm hoping it will fit. My spare is looking old. Install is tomorrow.
