Took my daughter and camped all the way on the other end of our property. (A ~3000 foot long expedition LOL.) Awesome temps, awesome stars, no big fuel $. #winning
Changed the fluid on the front/rear diffs and transfer case, changed the oil, and did my spring clean up with a good DA polish and wax. Lots of sweat but totally worth it 
Removed the cup holders in the center arm rest as we never saw ourselves having a need for them. Left the side arms attached in case I ever need to reinstall. Definitely nice having a couple more inches available in the top compartment.
That's a smart idea!
Cupholders there were always begging for a drink to be knocked over and spilled by my elbows anyway!
I might just steal this idea. One banana tech!!!

Went to start replacing my OME shocks with Icon Stage 2 kit and discovered sticky caliper pins in the rear had caused severe uneven pad wear. Ended up spending most of the day chasing down pads and pins and replacing them and ran out of time to install my reservoirs(also, I'm not sure exactly where I want to put them yet)

Yeah definitely an easy mod. I'd pull the entire top section off first. 4 screws and it's off. The middle attachment point is help in by 2 little pins. I wedged a flat tip screw driver into one side and was able to pry it apart enough that I could get the pin out. Then the other side was easy. Nothing broke so in theory it could be added again later but honestly, my removed parts will probably end up in the trash.
In my 99, the center console cup holders are a lift-out piece that nests into the top compartment. My first 99 didn't have them and I didn't know they were an option until I purchased my current 1999.
So, yours were somehow attached? What year range?
This was on my 2004 LC. It was an integrated unit and it basically folded flat and then latched into the top lid. So in theory when you opened the top lid the cup holders are hidden until you unlatch them. On mine, the latch was not working so every time I opened the top compartment the stupid cup holders would drop down. Would have been very easy to fix the latch but the more I thought about it the more I thought I'd never use them so I removed.
how did you remove the plastic piece around the shifter.
I never even knew cup holders were supposed to be in there, mine must have been previously modded!
I think it was a model year change.
The Adventure Trailers Custom water tank is finally coming together. I came up with a clever system for securing it to the carrier..... more to folllow!
As it sits today.... once i get the lid and fold out shelf completed its getting powdercoated black....
Currently working on my homemade fairing.

Got my LC back - new air filter, timing belt, water pump, idler, tensioner, fan idler, serpentine belt, and coolant - $727 from a Toyota Master Tech. Boom!
1/8" ABS. It's pretty solid and doesn't move at 80mph, but I'll keep an eye on it. If I feel it's needs something, I'll get some rubber door edge protectors from Autozone.
Hardware is stainless. Need to figure out on how the black them out.
