I have a hole in the same spot of my frame. I wonder what it is about that specific spot because the rest of my frame is in relatively excellent condition.
That rust hole in the frame is a known problem caused by a low area in the frame junction that is lacking drainage. A design fault. I drilled a drain hole at the lowest point and flushed out collected sand and dirt from inside the frame using a garden hose with a long flexibe wand on it, let it dry out then painted over it. Dodged a bullet, no rust so far.

Perhaps consider adding a second plate on top of the swing out pin holder? That seems a lot of weight and torsional stress on a single sheer mount.
I may do this down the line but have to think up some sort of solution that can be removed as I want to be able to easily pull this on and off. For now the spindle is welded to the plate and there is also an m12 threaded up into it from the bottom.

They seem to be well liked by the 80 series owners

Added some inexpensive necessary upgrades on my new to me 470, both batted above their paygrade!
TY to @Trapper50cal for window belt link, new on left for contrast.

1 year warranty on the weatherstrip though ?

Yep, for the price it looks 100% better than Oem at 311k.
Figured why not.

Save some $ for globes

Finally washed her after almost a year. Also experimented with my buffer to see if I could polish out the oxidation on my hood. Not too bad!

Hoping to finish up the full on detail this weekend.

3M Perfect it (3 stage set) + $80 Harbor Freight Random DA Polisher works wonders! Then 2-3 layers of Once a year polish... nice! Did it on multiple cars and it worked wonders.

is there a type of buffing pad you recommend? I have terrible hood oxidation and would like to polish it out.

I just went with the HF ones. They also have 3 stages from "buffing" to finish.
Using this system you can remove all swirl marks of a car wash fairly easy and the HF polisher (SKU: 56367) really keeps up. I polished multiple cars for hours, used it to sand down my whole van down to bare metal, ... still running fine. And it's a forced random polisher, so even when you press it hard onto the surface it will keep going in orbitals.

The first stage of the 3M with the buffing pad removes all marks coming from a 1.600-2.000 grit sand paper and depending on your targets this rough stage is already enough. Comparing car wash marks vs. the first buffing stage will already heavily impress you! Not show car finish, but whoever just walks by will see a shiny car w/o marks.

Main thing you need to keep in mind: you're removing quite a bit of clear coat on the surface. Therefore I'm adding 2-3 layers of the once a year polish to "recoat". This stuff is super easy to apply, just wipe it over in thin layers, let it dry wipe it off. No rubbing or so needed. And after multiple applications even car wash marks get better (not gone, but better).

Week 2 of ownership.

- Cleaned exterior, just a brush / hose / dishwash liquid job.... Have some desalting 4x4 foam and a foam cannon arriving to play with.

- PWR / 2ND not working. Pulled fascia up, button not connected. When connected, ECT/PWR light comes on but won't turn off. Button for both PWR and 2ND looks like someone spilled mud/coffee/cola/sand all over it. Will replace as cleaning not working. Try unplugging and using electrical contact spray to clean.

- Checked tyre pressures

-Pulled driver's window switches out. Cleaned/lubed. Back windows still not working (go down but not up). Ordered new OEM switch cluster.

- Cleaned windows and applied Rainx. New aero wiper blades ordered.

- Removed 3rd row seats and tow bar ball - not needed at the moment and probs saved 120kg in excess weight.

- Sprayed pet odour neutraliser on carpets (prev owner had a leaky dog I think). Borrowing a carpet vac off a friend.

I need to book in for a service (yay, expense!). There's also a local specialist suspension placed who are offering $28 brake / suspension / steering check. I'm ambivalent about this. Feels OK to me now and a dare say the $28 inspection could lead to a costlier repair so I'm saying "ignorance is bliss" for now....

Oh..... Is there a way to tighten the rear-view mirror inside? Mines a lil' wobbly, I prefer it.... stiffer :s

Had a heater tee hose start spraying after replacing the tees alone on my mother’s 1998 LX470

I typically replace the hoses and clamps with the tees- now I’ve confirmed that’s the best way to go.

Heater tee hose kit

Also cleared some space for the truck in the garage- first time I’ve ever been able to park a car in here 😂

Got my AirLift bags installed. Even though I have OME heavies on the back it was sagging pretty bad with my families camping gear and the tent trailer hooked up. Also started redoing a couple wires for my 7pin trailer connector to see if that fixes the error I get after disconnecting my trailer. This weekend I'll figure out what PSI I need to keep my truck level with the trailer hooked up and see if my wiring changes worked.
