I think you should ideally have one with foam and one with CO2.

Powder should be avoided, as it will kill electronics.

No powder at all, and it's small enough that it won't become a dangerous projectile in a serious crash: Element - Fire Extinguishers (or Element E50 Fire Extinguisher, run by a member here).

I love the location of the rear extinguisher. Great idea. I removed my rear seats and seatbelts, so this would be ideal. Did you fab the bracket yourself which mounts at the top and bottom? It looks to be a perfect fit.
Yeah both the front and rear were just pieces of 1 1/8” X 1/8” flat bar bent to match the lines of the interior so it hugs nice and tight. The top mounting point has a neoprene spacer behind it so it doesn’t dig into the vinyl. That top mount also has a spring thats nearly at full compression to take up the slack of the longer seatbelt bolt. Again so the bracket doesn’t dig in too badly.

When viewed from the rear the extinguisher barely sits proud of the hatch opening which is what I was going for. I did the same on the other side with my paper towels.

I am a believer in the fire extinguisher now about 2 months ago my neighbors 2013 bmw caught fire while parked in the driveway and totalled. Oddly enough the 4Runner I bought from a retired fireman had an extinguisher in the back side compartment that his wife said he left for me. Great idea to have 2. Is the white one and the red one for different type like chemical or electrical
The red one is ABC which is apparently also good for solid fires. The front one is AB???? Sold for marine and auto and only does electrical and liquid fires I guess.

Your both right. The decision came down to this:$$$$$$$$. Once other things are to a more manageable point I’ll circle back to these to upgrade. Hopefully what I got will make a modest difference towards saving life and limb compared to what I had before which was nothing. The Element extinguishers really seem like the way to go from what I’ve seen.

Totally understand that, just having one puts you way ahead of most.

Ever think of selling those bent, painted bars with the neoprene spacer and spring as a kit? You’d have some buyers here on Mud, I’m sure. I’d be the first! Let’s see the paper towel mount.

You mentioned in one of these posts that you wished you had a more built truck for this trip. What Mods do you think would have been beneficial?

Pictures were AMAZING! Looks like an awesome Trip.
I would want Icons Stage 3. My current lift is Tough Dogs shocks and I just don't feel like they can handle the whoops very well at a higher speed. I was barely going 10-15 MPH and the front was bouncing all over the place.

Which ones do you have in the front?

I've got the 53mm and have yet to feel like they weren't coping. My front end bushings on the other hand... They make it known they're not up to the stuff my shocks are.

What size TD shocks do you have?

Picked up a set of oem LC torsion bars to hoard if I ever get a front bumper/winch (to help out the AHC). Also Extended my rear diff breather to the back cavity behind the gas filler nozzle (did the front last week). Removed the tailgate carpet and traced out the area that needs cutting out for the Huracan tailgate storage i'll try install this weekend.

Finally got around to installing cabin HVAC filters in my 2000 LC. I guess I was one of the lucky ones that has the box for the filters. None in there though when I purchased my 100 a couple years ago.

What size TD shocks do you have?
41mm-- Front
45mm-- Rear Adjustable

My biggest issue is just hard dips or whoops, the shocks barely absorbs it. Everything else the TD was great, zero complaints. I think I just outgrew these shocks. When I sat in rigs with Kings or Icons, they just bomb through the same road and it feels so planted.

I don't see myself selling this rig anytime soon, so getting Icons Stage 3 seems reasonable to me. With each trip I take, the more I fall in love with the 100. Hard to believe it is 20 years old and it can cruise to Baja and back with zero issues.

I completely Agree with your last statement!

Its also hard to compare entry level TD shocks ot Kings or Icons.
Have you seen the Slee shocks?
Slee Off-Road - Reservoir Shocks

I go back and forth between the Slee Shocks and TD kit.

I saw it. But Icons usually have 20% off for Black Friday, that's over $400 off on Stage 3! That basically sealed the deal for me.

Honestly, the TD is REALLY GOOD for the price point. I did Hundreds in the Hills with it and they handled very well! But if you're looking for speed on the trails, probably want to get something else that was designed for it.

And you're right, I'm not comparing apples to apples. Icons vs TD... Icons are at a different level of performance. If you're going to keep your rig for a while, just bite the bullet and get the Slees or something similar in performance.

Our group got several big trips plan for the coming year, Baja again, CA-NV-UT-ID trip, and 2022 Alaska expedition (we're all saving up for the fuel. lol) ! So I know I'll get my money's worth with the Icons.

@KraziAzn I am in ID
Id love to meet up! I also want to do a trip to Alaska! I tried to send you a message but your inbox might be full.

Icons are a game changer for sure. I’ve always enjoyed driving off road but now it’s 10x better being able to bomb down the long desert trails we have here in the west. I feel bad for my friends when I leave them in the dust and I have to wait for them while they rattle their teeth out. Haha.

Stage 1 has been great but I’ll probably upgrade soon, and add new bumpstops as well.

Thanks for the feedback. To be honest no I haven’t thought of it. I suppose if enough people thought it to be a solution to an actual need/want I might consider it. I just kinda make my own things because I enjoy it and often have specific wants. If you really wanted one bad enough I could be persuaded.

Paper towel holder is posted under “let’s see your paper towel setup” in camping gear section of Mud. It’s very basic but for me that shape of object is kind of a freebie packaging wise in that space for the way I pack.

I’m toying with the idea of replacing the rear windows all together for more “free storage” but time and funds don’t permit right now.
