What does this light mean? It came on for the first time in my 7 years of ownership.

Hi all,

I believe that is the brake indicator light. Suppose to come on when the parking brake is engaged, and when the brake fluid level in the master cylinder is too low.

Regards,

Alan

I thought that's what it was and my fluid was low, however I have an 80 series master cylinder and I do not have the leads connected to it. How does it work if it's not connected?

On my 68 and 70 that is the location of the vacuum shift 4WD light. Lets you know it shifted to 4WD.

If either of the old master cylinder wire leads are grounding on anything, that light will still work for the parking brake light when the PB is engaged .

4wd indicator... i believe the brake indicator is on the left and is labled

Yes, it was the FD indicator light. My lever had moved forward just enough to trigger the light.

So this begs the question .... Is this the first time you've been in 4-wheel-drive in 7 years .. and it was by ACCIDENT only? :D
I guess I just never noticed it being on before. :hmm:
