Was crushing on the paint/patina; not gonna lie
I think (hope) that once Iām down to the rest of the factory paint it will have some hidden patina.
The spots I have already uncovered are promising. Paint isnāt mint underneath by any means. Should still have good character.
Iām just trying to get down to the factory spring green and hoping it looks cool when Iām done.
A lot of me wishes I had never started getting the 4 layers of spray paint off and I had left it. Although itās flaking off in so many areas that I couldnāt leave it alone.
The āpreserving patinaā thread really motivated me to get started way back.

Off topic.
Cold rainy day.
Little man got cheap a little rc crawler for Christmas so we decided to give it a little upgrade.
3mm spacers/ adapters and some Injora double bead locks and sticky tires.
He built one of the wheels before his patience ran out but we got it done in about an hour and went to playing on the porch. The tires grip amazingly well.
I have the same setup ordered for the little 80 series in the back ground.

Awesome You are never too young to learn the "feel" of a spring loaded ball detent.

Early morning 40 ride to a good friends personal gym for some hot /cold therapy.
Pulled out of the drive at 4:42. Drove the 20 miles, did my therapy, made camp coffee, drove home and was able to catch enough light for some pictures.
One side is currently more photogenic than the other.

Got my box from @cruiseroutfit yesterday.
Speedo should work again now, havenāt test drove though.
One of these days Iāll pull it in the shop and drain and fill the diffs and install the new plugs.
New Yearās Eve daycare pickup, sheās always so stoked when I show up in the 40.

I was forced to invoke WARM PULL today!
It was 20 degrees this morning but has warmed up.

Little scare leaving work today.
Fired up the 40, set the idle and walked away. Came back about 10 min later and it was quieter and colder than expected.. The blower motor wasnāt working.
Popped the hood, made sure it was plugged in, gave it a couple love taps with the old pocket knife and it was good to go.

Made a Beer run.
Toes almost toasty before I got to ball practice.
Fired up the 40, set the idle and walked away. Came back about 10 min later and it was quieter and colder than expected.. The blower motor wasnāt working.

Skipped some snow wheeling today, spent time sledding with the kids instead.
Ironic, I ordered my self some stickers from a podcast I have really been enjoying. They came in yesterday with 6ā of snow on the ground.
I love when people take the time to hand write a note. I know itās not very common anymore, and I spent a tiny amount of money with him.
Slow Baja is my constant reminder to slow down and enjoy the moment. I truly cannot wait to get to Baja. Whether itās in the next year or two or ten from now.

Washed the salt off yesterday.
Still daily driving it. Still enjoying it.
Really wanted to sit down and access my goals for this thing. It āneedsā nothing. Other than some oil leaks fixed, valve seals (I think), and rear wheel bearings/ shafts. WELL a rear heater would be nice on these teen mornings.
I want 35s, 60 axles, 5 speed, v8..
Still daily driving it. Still enjoying it.
