What did you work on tonight?

Finally got around to replacing my belts so I can identify and fix the AC problem. Just in time to not need it...

I don't want to hear this. I've been battling a coolant leak on the boy's 2002 and haven't fixed it yet. Current leakage is at the upper radiator hose connection, with new radiator hoses and two clamps (worm gear screw type). Did a coolant flush and a new Aisin thermostat in it too. Next batch of money I throw at it will be a new OEM radiator cap and OEM-style spring clamps, and maybe even a thin layer of FIPG applied to the nipple. I had put a new Stant aftermarket cap on it but wonder if it's not opening to allow coolant into the overflow at the right pressure. So here's another $40 and weekends to spend on it when I have other things I'd prefer to work on.
Like is likely a hairline split in body of radiator. Pretty common. Replaced mine with all aluminum mishimoto and mishimoto silicone hoses.

I purchased a parts 2uzfe VVTI engine that destroyed itself after the timing belt went. I don’t know the exact mileage but was told it was over 100k. I found that the timing belt had been changed at some point because it was a Gates belt. Interestingly the belt looked to be in good condition except for where it broke, meaning it didn’t have any dry rot or cracking in the belt. I pulled it apart to salvage what I could and scraped the rest. Thought I would share pictures of the destruction.

Holy moly . So, that's the definition of an 'interference' engine, eh?

My front axle housing damage pics. This is on the pass side, which is a known issue, but I don't think I've seen this exact type of damages. The axle housing got torn where the factory welds were. As soon as the radius arm bolt was removed, the bracket piece fell on the ground. The last pic shows how it is supposed to be next to the housing I got from Dennis. See, this is why we all need to hord Toyota parts

So it was the radius arm bracket that took out the housing.

it's interesting that the pass side of the housing gets all the abuse in the 80s for some reason. OEM rubber bushings inside Delta VS custom radius arms plus Whiteline mondo front sway bars with 20yr of abuse resulted in this mess.

No kidding. This is a good visual reminder of why it's important to change your timing belt on time (miles and age).

This is not necessary a good reminder for timing belt change because this particular non-oem belt is actually newish. It's a shame, Gates brand is usually quality for the most part.

Testing the Starlink Mini out in the weeds.
