Picked up a sequioa locally to replace the Tundra.

I’m going to swap the wheels and tires off the tundra onto it, tint the windows, detail it, and 2/1 lift. Drive it until a deer insists I put a bumper on it. Then probably a costal kit.

Sweet! I've been looking at these lately and considering one. What made you go with this when you've already got a 200?

4th kid 🤣

In all honesty I didn’t love my tundra, this is reallly close to a tundra, has enough seats for everyone. And was 1/6th of the price of my tundra.

It’s a secondary vehicle, I drive my 40 series every day. The wifey drives the 200.
However once new baby gets here it will be nice to have captains and a full third row for kid duty (2 kids we have half of the time). Otherwise it will sit in the driveway most of the time like my tundra did.

My 200 has a drawer on the driver side so only one third row seat currently. Technically we can all fit in it when baby arrives. But the Sequioa will just have more comfortable room for it.

It definitely does not replace the 200. It Adds to the quiver.

Nice. How do the seats compare? I know you had issues with them in your tundra.

This 2008 Limited has much “cushy” seats. I don’t love them. But I decided I can not love $5,000 seats or not love $30,000 seats.

Longest I’ve drove is an hour and didn’t have an issue with the Sequioa seat. My truck I make it about 2 miles and notice my back getting aggravated.

Haha very good way of looking at it.

From what I've seen online, a lot of people say the earlier 2nd Gen tundra seats are more comfortable. I would assume the Sequoia uses the same seats but I'm not certain.

I can't remember if you said you've tried seat jackers on the Tundra?

I never did try the seat jackers. I did consider it but ultimately needed a rug with 6 seats so I knew I wouldn’t keep it anyway.

I was having a tough time deciding between Scangauge II vs III and mounting locations when a random google search turned up a thread on the Tundra forums about using a bluetooth OBD reader and an app on carplay. Maybe this is old news to most of you but I was stoked, much cleaner and easier for my needs. I just want to be able to monitor trans and coolant temps when towing.

I used an OBDLink MX+

And OBD Fusion

The instructions to add custom PIDs in regards to the trans temps sensors can be found here:

It works well. The refresh rate isn't instantaneous but it updates every few seconds - enough to get an idea of the temps. Can't have graphic displays on carplay unfortunately, just data.

Did a test run, 40 degrees outside. with no trailer and no trans cooler (I have a 2021) and saw temps of around 200 on the freeway and up to 220 accelerating up a hill on the highway. Going to install a trans cooler this week.
