New plugs and wires on the 80, wires were definitely from 1993. Plugs might have been as well??
Also repacked drivers front bearings as we had what I thought was a loose/worn bearing, I was right the outer bearing was loose. Top to bottom wheel movement. Also was over 15-20 lbs on the fish scale. Got it back down to 7lbs. Maybe my mpg will get up to 15 now. :bounce:

Working on a build thread with pics for my new project will post up some real details soon as I know JP is tired of my hints.

That is a pretty engine you got there Rob.... looks perfect for that drive to MN this June :hillbilly:

Doc, did you make the skids or buy them somewhere? can you post some pics of them?

Sliders are 4+ from Man a Fre, and the skit plate is the stock 60 plate, don't have a photo of the skid plate and plan on one of the sliders once back on the beast. :)

That's fussy pussy. But hey they get the picture. Should have taken a pic of the bottom of the carb. There are but a few signed and named carbs from me. Takes a special person to deserve one.

Rob the project is looking good.

My 80 was the same way front outer driver bearing. If its wears too long it will start to wear the spindle which is crazy expensive.

Got the exhaust manifold gasket replaced, had the manifold resurfaced and had the pipe bent correctly. Maybe now I can drive it without passing out!! But I will miss being high every once and a while, you know what i'm talking about right DOHC??

Finally got the lift done.
I still have to cut the excess of the u-bolts and I have one brake line left to bend up and replace but that can wait for warmer weather. The old line isn't too bad anyhow!
My wife is happy the garage is free again because that means I'm working on slate flooring.
Yes, the truck is still ugly, but at least it's lifted and on larger tires;)
Baby steps......

weekend cruiser work

Finally got the stupid straun internal bead lock's out of my tires, those things have been one of the biggest mistakes I have ever made on a new product. Never could get but two to work at the same time, and all four leaked air at a different rate. And it was 40 bucks every time to break down and mount those 35's after 4 times I said I've had it.  The changing air pressure combined with the flopping arround in the inside of the tire made any attempt to balance or diagnose shimmy impossible.:mad::mad::mad: Tires on the rims now without the bead lock's and 96% of my shimmy and vibration is totally gone. I am so so glad they are gone. Oh!!! finished up the wiring of the perfect switch battery isolater system and adjusted the valves re positioned the spring for throttle return, and changed the oil filter and oil. Heading off this week to get the sliders welded back on, yeah I know I have a welder and I do weld some but I also blow out big holes occasionally:mad: and I don't want that to happen to my frame. :)

Wow, Doc...you've been busy. All I have done is get the steering stablizer back on. I still have one rear shock hanging down.

Well...ya know....just today the weber on the 60 flooded briefly. :grinpimp:
Hell, it's about 20 years old. It came off of Gundy. Been on the 60 for a couple
of years now.
De-smogged w/ header and $OR smog pump eliminator '83 2F.
What ya got that would fit the bill here?

Just saying...

Let's see....drove Gundy on a 50 mile cruise around to keep the juices flowing.
Stopped at a motorcycle shop. Let's just say an old 40 is REAL popular.
'Bout every customer and clerk came out to look. 40s are Legendary.

Drove Big as a second car this week. I LOVE parking that rusting hunk of
politically incorrect beast at the office. Drove it out of town to work too.
It did "cough" today shortly after starting home.
(I'll mention that to the ol lady) ;)

Had new calipers/rotors/pads/o2 senors/plugs/rotor/cap/oil&filter done
on Coach. General service and detailing.

Ohm...cruiser,cruiser,cruiser...Ohm

fixed a vacuum leak and a loose gas line in the 40..which combined was causing a huge hesitation and some popping and bucking... since it is my DD it is nice to have her working well.. though I am considering a 5 speed...

It is nice to be ahead in something I usually am way behind. Oh the sliders are on and the beast is runing great. I even ran 80 on the trip to chesnee just to see if it could, it did and even acclerated (very slowly up hills) Wonderbar!!!:bounce::bounce:
