I'm going to say O2 sensor. Have you checked it out? Could be clogged cats though.

About a year ago I replaced both O2 sensors, one toyota one autozone,,, when I had the injectors rebuilt, de-smogged and replaced the headers with stock exhaust manifolds,, I had a new exhaust built earlier in 09 and it did not match to the manifold perfectly so I got a leak from the beginning at the manifold/down pipe... and I always attributed it to bad alignment but now I am thinking clogged cats...
the computer was throwing a code 11 IIRC,, it said intermittent power to ECU..my battery cables were loose,, I tightened them ,,, now that I think about it I did not clear the code, and probably should..
I was getting the 14-16 mpg after the above work was done......and had lots of power... now
I know I need to adjust my transmission cable, because when I get on my private road, I go from a flat road to a hill at a 90 degree turn,,, and if I shift it from D to 3 it will drop into that gear,, going 10-15 mph.. so the transmission is staying in high gears at low speeds.. I have been basically using my auto shifter as a manual on hills and stretches where there is just not enough power....
when the guy rebuilt the exhaust, he tucked the cats up above the frame rail,,and it was causing my trans. shifter housing to get very hot....maybe all of this is related...
my mechanic said he can test for fuel efficiency to figure out if it is cats,,but I need to get it there in the AM and leave it all day

Finally installed my Christmas present from the wife in the 80. A new radio. The last one broke only allowing me to hear everything in mono. What a difference. Never again will I buy another Sony product.

I had lost the map sensor and bought what I thought was the right one. I found the old one and installed it today. Runs like it used to now. Very nice.
It's time to start working on the 40 weekly and getting it ready for gsmtr. It's not that far away.
I think I'm going to start having some HAMOMs at the house if no one else is going to have any.

Washed the 60 and took several layers of mold off the body. Rinsed the frame off and out, should be salt free now.
Hooked up my turn signals, then discovered the headlights stopped working. It was a good thing too, as I discovered the keyed 12 volt wire had burnt all the insulation off and was bare wire behind the dash. That could have a nice fire.
Got the tag on, and all the lights checked out, and drove it for the first time on the highway. Drove it around the area for some errands in the NICE 70* weather. She drove really well. I still think I need to add some type of balancing media to the tires, as they still get squarely on bridges, etc. Discovered my shock crushed the right rear brake line while I was at Gulches so I need to re-route those. Discovered it the hard way as my right rear brake rotor started smoking.
Also I finally hooked up the gauge cluster that I had wired by Armeurer sp? on here that put in some really trick light wire, and it glows like a SOB. Really impressed with it, and the aftermarket gauges in the housing.

Gave the FJ Cruiser some much needed love in the form of new spark plugs, all new fluids and all new filters. Rear diff oil was real dirty, front diff and tcase fluids were pretty clean but dirtier than last time at 30, now at 70k. Spark plugs looked OK when I pulled them out and then I discovered that Advance Auto sold me the wrong plugs so I had to go back 
and exchange them.
The wife also helped me for a couple of hours which rocked. I love not having to get out from under a truck b/c I grabbed the wrong wrench.

Took Bertha for a spin after getting the rear glass back in the tail gate and the coolant overflow jug mounted back where it was. Holy cow she's loud right now... still without any exhaust! I think the lack of back pressure is also robbing some power. Also need to add another ground wire from the starter to the frame. Apparently these 350's can't get enough ground wires, because the ground from the starter to the motor mount is not enough. Not a bad first run.
The wiring in the engine bay and under the dash needs to be properly loomed and we need to install another fuse block for some of the ECU control wires that need key-on 12V. Then we need to wire the shifter to activate the back up lights and light up the transmission position indicator. And trim the console that covers all that to match the floor pan curvature.
Gave Dig-Dug an oil change and a good hose-down to get rid of the sand and salt from Snowpocalypse. Also got around to cutting off the broken spare tire mount studs and welding in some new ones.

on my 62, I adjusted the transmission kick down cable, and figured out how to attack the timing gear oil leak... glad I cut my fan shroud in half years ago..

Got my 62 stuck on our private road....
so I have this recent interest in tanning animal hides, I have been known to pick up a "fresh" road kill, skin it out and save the hide...if I hit it, I will bone the meat and cook it for the dogs..
anyway, last night I was on my way home on my dirt road that crosses a swamp and at the lowest section a creek runs under the dirt road,,, low and behold I see a fresh steaming rabbit in the middle of the road. perfect, since I left my last one in the refrigerator too long...
I could not stop in time to have it in my headlights so I decide to back up,,, in my haste I backed up too far and not too straight, and put the right rear tire into the swamp/creek,, far enough that my front left was in the air,, it seemed everytime I closed the front door she slipped closer and closer to the swamp/culvert... of course I was in no cell reception land, and my phone shot across the car when I slammed on the brakes and bounced into the culvert/swamp
I have a lockright in the front of this 88 fj62, so I put it in low and locked the hubs/4wd and thought I could drive out,, its a cruiser right!?? everytime I gave it gas the vehicle wanted to slip and twist into the creek, only about a 4' drop off but I probably would have flipped...
I got home, picked up a chain, lock, clevis or 3, a few tow straps, a tree saver and a come along,, I secured the back end to a tree off to the side, to keep the back end from dropping further into the abyss..and tried to drive out,, no luck,,
so I got my neighbor,, who said he had consumed 8 adult beverages ... and he brought his tracked CAT bobcat...I was worried he was going to bash in my grill.. so I connected a 10k# strap to the front hooks and he pulled me out pretty easily...he wanted me to get stuck again so he could play some more,,,,haha
my monday night adventure,, all I wanted was a pizza, beer and movie,,, but this was kind of fun,, except the queasy feelings...more reason to build that new front bumper and install my warn m12 winch...

The 40
Took out the piece together floor pan i put in the 40 and installed a new floor pan. Few issues but very nice. Waiting on NAPA's machine shop to finish with my manifolds. Also waiting on adapter plates for the Weber i ordered from JTO well over a week ago. Seats are past gone so Marshall donated a set got to go get from Mr. Harden's shop. And working on a half cab. Looks like i stuck it together with bubble gum but it'll look good from a distance like most of my stuff.

was wondering why my engine was smoking on start up and for about 20-30 min after start up.
Then i realized that i had about 3 gallons of waste motor mixed with about 10 gallons of off road/bio diesel.
The glow plug in electric heater stopped working and it was taking almost 30 min for the oil to heat up enough in the radiator to heat the fuel up to the point it was warm enough to burn cleanly with no smoke.

I didn't sell it, and I asked for it's forgiveness by ordering an AFI harness, ECM, and chip to mount the TPI fuel injection up.
