Got the spare tire mounted on the carrier and also got the hi lift mounted on the back. REALLY happy with the way this setup came out for just over $100.

threatened its future!

aussie locker installed

so installed my locker last night from about 7-10:30 so i could go wheeelin at d-town today definetly needed it and sometimes still wasnt enuff , luckily had 2 lockers because the shaft wouldnt fit between the spacers during the install, used the other one i had ,which is the same part # and it all went right on in ?

Oh and i got it all muddy'd up too.

got my oil pressure gague working. Using the stock oil pressure/tach/water temp gauges on the new diesel.

Also replaced my thermostat and now the heat seems to be working much better

Continued work on the 40 today.....pulled out more of the spaghetti in the engine bay today....after switching to a 4 speed yrs ago I finally pulled out all the old vacuum shift lines and cables....had some shady lights wired up so I pulled those too.....came to the conclusion I don't have enough gas in the tank for it to start up so I'm gonna fill it up and then get her to run on her own with out havin to dump gas in the carb....so it was a good day.

Put a new radiator in the pickup as the water pump went out on me the other week. I got the pump in as it wasnt close enough to home for me to make it. The pump went out and caused the fan to hit the radiator thus killing it. It also busted the fan shroud so I need to find one of those cheap too.

I have been debating hard about getting a commuter for my drive to work, but just cant make myself sell the pickup. I think I will kick myself when I get a closer job and don't need so much MPG.

I also changed the oil in the 80 and adjusted the LSPV, what a world of difference in braking! It is now very controlled and hardly any squirlyness. I wish I had done this years ago! Need to get the CC bushings installed and rotate the MTRs. I also have a lead on an ARB bumper and hope to work it out to get it in the next week or so. My wife has been wanting one since we bought the 80 so maybe it will finally work out timing with deals and having some $.

We are so very close to having Bertha back on the road. I got the battery tray and tie-down finished up and rerouted the dipstick so that we can actually put the hood back on. All that remains is to finish wiring the transmission neutral and backup, and the ECU alternator signal wire (along with a few other wires that go into the dash) and electrical is not my strong suit.

Pic of gas tank strap (3/4" steel strap with rubber strip insulator). I made it to attach to a new bracket on the outside of the frame rail, since the inside of the rail is inaccessible once the tank is in position.

home-fabbed a battery tray in the stock location (passenger fender) using the stock support bracket and also bolted to wheel well.

battery tie down is fabricated out of 3/4" steel strap and a rubber insulator strip on top, then bolts on both sides of the tray for a secure fit.

re-routed oil dip stick to pass under the air intake and heater core lines (it was sticking straight up from the bottom of the block and was about 4 inches taller than anything else under the hood).

Is Bertha going to be ready for GSMTR this year?? I dont want to be the only Jeep there again.

Took it to Sugar Mtn to go skiing and then gave it a rest. Been DDing it for the last few months. Finally had the time to fix the commuter, so I gave the Cruiser a much needed rest. Now to clean it up this weekend.

removed the power steering filter I installed after having the ps gear box rebuilt last year

tightened the timing gear cover bolts to try to slow the hermmorage of oil that has been slung all over the front half of the engine compartment...

took it to my mechanic (ugh I HATE doing this) to try to figure why I am now getting 5 mpg... in conversation he things it might be clogged cats...they are 10 years old and last year I was getting 12- 15 mpg locally...

last week I did a compression test on the 62 150 on 1, 3, 5 , 6 120 on 2 and 130 on 4.. I had the head rebuilt 70 k ago, so i think it is either bad carbon build up and or poorly adjusted valves...I am adjusting the valves on monday,, only on the 2 cylinders that are bad...

got the 40 started pretty quick last week,,
