Well today went better than last Saturday....Thanks to Marshall we got the tcase back together today and ready to switch it out.....I did get the parts from Kurt and I got a complete clutch kit from Carquest...Original equipment, I would of never thought to go to carquest but that is where Profits gets there's from...worked out great. Thanks again Marshall.

I enjoyed driving it at GSMTR, would love to see what it would do on the trail.

Put 4 tires on the 40 today and went to charge the battery and it told me to replace it.....going to take it to walmart where I bought it and see what kind of money I can get off another one...has a 2 yr free replacement..cross my fingers.

put diesel in the tank and drove from the race shop to the house.

Runs well, still working out some bugs. Getting much better fuel mileage and it's insanely loud

I don't do any racing anymore, the shop next to my lawn mower shop is a race shop. That is where I had my welding done and where I stored my rig for part of the engine swap

How's that Ranger OD working out for you?

It's loud, makes shifting a bit slower but was terrific on 385 keeping the Rpms down. Once I put in some sound insulation in it will be much better. Going through the snow it was nice being able to keep the diesel purring at 1800 Rpms by splitting gears

Bertha's Vortec 350

Finished up the Hurst V-Matic install and fired up the Vortec 350 again. Discovered the tranny to be verrrry low on juice, so continued to run her as we topped off the ATF. Tested the adjustment of the new cable shifter and got it dialed in. Then discovered that one little brown wire coming from the ECU needs to connected to the key ignition switch, so that the alternator knows when to charge....the hard way. We stopped the engine then couldn't restart her because we had been draining the battery. At least we had someone (ACC-Dugan) who knew what was going on (after reading the ECU instructions again) and we know how to fix that issue. We got the voltage gauge, gas gauge and oil pressure gauges operational on the dash cluster. Still need to get the engine temp gauge connected.

Got to finish up the battery tray, shorten the dipstick and some wiring under the dash before we take her out for a spin. And eventually we'll put some sort of muffler on her - it's just straight pipe right now. But she's running strong and temps look good. This weekend could be her big day out!
Check it out!

Purchased an Optima red top for the 40 put it in and got her to turn over and run for a few seconds today...was raining so didn't get much time to work on her but it was good to hear her purr again....hopefully in the next few days I'll get her running up to speed again....the cruiser itch is comin alive again.

posted pics of her

That looks awesome Rick.

I bet ACC is loving the additional floorspace too.

Thanks!
They are chomping at the bit to move in. Landlord still needs to fix all that the previous tenants jacked up before they officially move in. Bertha's just been parked in there - no real work going on in there yet.

Swapped tires.... look at that tiny 80 !
