Not my truck, but it's at my house, so I think it counts. Installed the 2H, H55 and split case for the last time.

Turned it around in the driveway to see if sun would hit solar panel better.

During the week the 60 failed its registration inspection, so this weekend I ordered the required bits and started ticking things off the list to get it inspected again in a couple of weeks. I was spewing that it failed, but it is a good thing as a couple of faults are safety related and it forces me to fix everything properly...
So the list:
Fix broken and cracked engine mounts
Replace tie rod ends
Replace uni joint in rear driveshaft
Replace rear flexible brake line
Bleed brakes (again) and adj handbrake
Replace battery clamp (rust hole)
Steering wheel to be centred
Rear brake lights to work

A couple of busy days ahead!

What rear bumper setup is that? Great looking rig.

Thanks! It's a 4x4 Labs bumper, and it's saved body damage on many occasions now.

Installed new OEM Power Steering Pump with new hoses, rebuilt Smog Pump and new Alternator with new belts. Nice and quiet now when steering, got all of the old crappy PS fluid and put in the correct ATF.

Very nice....
Simple weekend for me, the cruiser played camping transport for the holiday to Davis Lake in Norcal. Figured out that I had a massive balance issue on my front right tire when a buddy showed me the strange wear and feathering. Swapped the tire when I got back home with the old ass spare and no more wobbles on the turns!.

#camping #oldschoolcanvas #canvastent So we got the family heirloom tent out after a 20+yr hiatus. Thanks to Eikelberger canvas for repairing the bottom she did phenomenal and has many more years of use!! by renofizz, on Flickr

I love that tent G..

Thanks J, yeah it was a blast to have it and brought back fond memories from my childhood. Well worth the investment of having the bottom replaced. And the thing is HUGE!!! 9'x17' if I remember correctly, hell it used to fit a family of 5 for a weeks camping.

I hope to eventually get a RTT and build my Trail-Tailor "M416" trailer. I have the design profile ready to go in Solidworks.. Just need to get it to the press and get off my :moon:.... and build it.

Well then get off lazy butt and do it!!! Funny thing is that if you look at the pic there is a green tent in the background. Ends up the young couple that was in the site next to us actually were using a canvas tent as well. Guy and I talked briefly but their tent was his fathers too...

Story behind our tent is that my parents moved to Australia in the early 70s right after my sister was born. Dad said he bought the tent there, Terka-Tents, in either 72 or 73 for $183AU. When they moved back to the US a few years later they brought it with them and we camped in it as a family until I was probably 8yrs old. This was 2 to 3 trips a summer up to Lake Tahoe for a week at a time. Then we somewhat stopped camping until I was about 13 and my dad and I went camping with my uncle up to Bullard's Bar (which is like 3 1/2hrs from home). We get there and start to get the tent setup only to figure out that my dad brought the wrong poles!! So out comes the duct tape and we suddenly have branches and broomsticks and what not holding up the tent. Fast forward a couple days and we are packing the truck up to go home and low and behold my dad finds the bag with the poles!!!

Anyways, after that the tent got retired for a smaller Coleman tent and sat in our shed in the valley since then (that was about 1992). The wife and I destroyed another tent this last year (after lasting 2yrs, guess that is what you get with cheap tents) and decided we were going to invest some good money in a tent. One night while visiting my dad I am talking to him about us getting a new tent this year (actually it was when I was down for the Valley Hybrid Cruiser Swap meet) and my dad tells me that he was cleaning out the shed and found the old tent. He said it looked in decent condition in the bag so if I wanted it I could have it. That night we got home and go into the shed and decide to have a couple beers and set it up in the backyard to see what it looks like. Sure enough, no mold, bottom is a little crusty from a little dry rot but other than that it is in great condition (and this is sitting in valley heat/humidity for 20yrs not to mention the raccoons and what not in there). So I took it, got a hold of a local canvas repair place and a couple hundred bucks later the tent is ready to go and will last us Many more years.

Finally broke the aerial off (again) put a big dent in rear right passenger door and bent the stock rear bumper in half on the left side wheeling with Tarsands Toyotas up in Fort Mac:( It was a great weekend. May be the last hurrah for this rig as insurance company wants to write off due to age. Any interest in the 12HT, H55F, Factory PTO winch with custom front bumper etc???

Insurance company covers damage from wheeling?

No, but somebody hit me the week before and they are taking there sweet time to get back to me. It's ridiculous. Damage is almost $2500, they value it around 5K, but its an 88 so it went to total loss dept:(

drove it with it's new-used motor for the first time with the boss 2 kids and 3 dogs to the crik...FYI #1: fj80 is just 18 hp bigger than an fj62;)...got her stuck on the only patch of sand on the rock>:[...FYI #2; fj80 pan makes me think I can get the rear fzj80 elocker under there...it used more fuel; and threw no codes, but it felt jussssst right; dang it! I love her fj62...it's the best USA TLC of the line-up...
