Replaced the front fender well rubber flaps. Cut some out of rubber roofing material.

Attached with these clips. They fit great, have good cover, and are easy to remove without breaking

ALL GONE !!!
The carpet and spring gauge have left the building.

It's not quite on topic but I have some free stuff from my 62 I thought someone might want to have. I'm in Temecula but drive up near Riverside and down toward San Diego on a regular basis. The rear deck cover has carpet, a foam pad and a layer of durable plastic sheet all sewn together and wheel well covers are just carpet. The tension gauge is brand new and unused. I have some repair manuals also.

Tension gauge? Like what you’d use for checking preload?

Finally found the tool drawer where I left my cajones, and "surgically" removed the rust at passenger rear quarter panel and wheel well. Never did any sheet metal welding before, but it went OK. The patch panel I cut the pieces out of came with the truck when I bought it from @orangefj45 in 2012, so I had plenty of time to man up.

Your lines are a good start. Is the red where the welded patches are? If so, they look smooth.

Some people think great stuff foam is an essential part of any kind of body work. Seems like everything that’s been in the Midwest gets some somewhere. It really did a number on my ‘40. People like to fill up rust holes with it then use it as a base for bondo. Morons. I’m not sure why it ended up in the tailgate - it’s not really rusty and thankfully I didn’t find any bondo behind the foam. Just one more of the 2,536 reasons to kick your rigs PO square in the...

Good job righting that wrong and sorry you seemed to pay the price with some blood!

Got my new Warn M8000 mounted in its home. Not a big fan of the bracket that comes with the bullbar that mounts the control box. It’s staggered off center to the left and is kind of high. I need to either customize the Warn bracket or bend up a piece of steel to center the controller and drop it down a bit.

Nice work, That looks great! I’m going to have to do the same some day! Or maybe just put enough extra dents in it wheeling that I can’t be bothered... :hillbilly:

Ya- @DickM Very good sheet metal work if you're really a novice. Looks fantastic.

I used the bracket the other way.
The two small holes in the bracket bolted to the top of the bumper
The slotted side I altered my control box and bolted it to that and it is dead center.

I would imagine both...

If I posted the picture of my welding on the patches, all doubt would be removed. I have spent a lot of times with hand tools in the construction business, though, so the cutting and fitting was in my skill set.

Are you doing spot welds like oem along the bottom seam and wheel well opening?

I drilled hole in the back panel and plug welded from the back side to the front patch panel. I will caulk the edge with a butyl adhesive I got from a buddy who installs seamless gutters, as I could not figure how to weld through a sealer.

Is the red where the welded patches are?

Yes, one at the top of the wheel well arch, and the entire lower quarter. They are pretty smooth, not close to show quality, but solid and plenty good for a trail truck.
