Belt yesterday, mileage today. Anyone in Colorado wanting a dealership to do the job: Colorado Springs was $400 cheaper than the other dealerships. Paid $1097 for belt and water pump. The other two quoted me $1500. It’s an ‘07 so I was going by age not mileage for belt change.
i'm getting close to the 2nd change.
It might be worth going over there for it... shop name, address? is that off the street price or bro price? Anyone I should ask for?
I have an '07 too... :)

Wait, it's a 2007 with 79K?!?!?! HOLY FOO, that's nice!!!!

Did this today on the wife’s Subaru since we will be putting up for sale soon. Turned out pretty good and was only able to let it sit for about 1hr and 40 min before we had to drive it. Next up will be the GX lights.

NICE!
I hear a 50/50 of urethane and mineral spirits is a good sealant after you clear them. . . no personal experience but seen it on these interwebs.. maybe moar verification.

This mod gives me at least a couple of milimeters of ground clearance!

For some reason, I really like the clear tail light lenses.View attachment 1734745
ditto, and no doubt 0.38 hp too!

I dig the clears too, i have want for same.

you did the prado window trim blackout too, right?

@DRANGED I ordered and received the prado black window trim. I need to install. Maybe I'll do it on the 4th of July since it falls on a Wednesday and I gotta work on both sides of the holiday.

@DRANGED I bought all my parts on Amazon, Toyota, and Lexus; even used some coupons. Found an independent mechanic in Los Angeles that has done lots of work for me and he charged me $500 labor; $550 parts, so $1050 total for new radiator, new water pump, new timing belt, new pulley, new thermostat, new cap, new upper/lower hoses, and new drive belt.

He inspected my parts to make sure they were quality parts and then he quoted me $500 for labor. So, you could order online and at the dealer and then shop around. I suppose there's a lot more repair shops in Los Angeles than Moab, but that's my story.

Care to share the name of the shop Homer? I need to find a reputable place for the GX.

The owner is Daniel Lin. He's a workaholic and very meticulous. I always buy my parts and he does the labor. He doesn't specialize in off-road, but he's installed my alternator, new OEM LCAs, all the cooling system I mentioned, and oil changes on my GX470. He's worked on my son's 80 series, my daughters Toyota Camry, my Lexus LS460, etc.

I plan to go there soon to get my LS460 new brakes, rotors, and fluid changes. Quality work every time and I cannot find lower prices. I shop around all the time.

The price I got was off the street from the Colorado Springs Lexus. Honestly, no disrespect to the dealership but there is a huge lack of “amenities” at the springs dealership and it is apparent the moment you pull up. The Kuni Lexus in Denver is a Plus dealership and is posh beyond anything I’ve ever seen. The Lexus in Frederick is not quite that nice but still very nice. This is why I think they charge less and for me I’m a ok with it. Lexus gives free loaners and I just left the car there overnight and picked it up next day. It was more work but saved me $400 and it was worth it to me.
And yeah I looked for a long time before I found the ‘07 with 77k miles. I believe I scored a good one. It came from Jersey and there is minor rust underneath but we have an ‘04 from Colorado and I think they look the same underneath—nothin structural...but the ‘04 has 176k. Hoping for the best with it.

I've been overall Dealership scorned by life but thought I'd give Lexus my last shot of hope when i got my 07 (w/ 150 I must add ;)) and went to Stevenson of Lakewood. Pretty posh, yummy coffee and nice fireplace, but overall wasn't impressed with the details. They didn't wash it cuz they misunderstood me, didn't check or fill my washer fluid with good stuff and it froze coming back over the rockies, they didn't fix or tell me I was missing a bolt holding that plastic bumper-to-skid gap piece on; but after discussion they comped me an oil change on my next interval and gave me a loaner (which I was bale to go junkyarding and score a 3rd gen outback tailgate with ;))
But yeah, I'm feeling kind of done with stealerships. Your review might give me one last pause when my timing is due (which may be close to a month out with this mega road trip we've got coming up next week). With prime day coming soon, maybe i should get my ducks in a row and order a timing kit and water pump. . . .

I'm sure a buddy and I can do it (he did his 200 with 2uz-fe a couple years ago), but finding time to coordinate our schedules is like experiencing a miracle...

Installed the window mouldings on the doors. I did the easy ones first. It took about 30 minutes to do the front and rear doors on both sides. I need to figure out how to do the quarter panel mouldings. I estimate at least 2 hours to remove the panels and do it right.

Update: Fixed my quarter panel mouldings. It took me close to two hours. Pain in the a$$, but done.

Looks damn good with black!

@teejnut if you haven't done the quarter belt molding already, I posted some notes in, I think the "best mods under $100" thread where we were discussing this item and the install, but in a nutshell after starting to attempt removal of the interior trim and window hinge bolts, I decided to try the other option of just tearing off the old ones and that worked fine and was much easier. On my '09 there is not a hinge bolt going through the circle tab on that rear molding piece, just a plastic connector (photo in the other thread) so with the 3 clips that attach it to the body there's really no reason to tear into the interior trim and go that route because that's so much harder.

Mines in the same state right now too... Need to do the quarter panel moldings.

Still watching the transfer case slowly leak. Mechanic says it's the O ring. I think he's probably right but I'm a bit skeptical of him lately due to what I view as him over diagnosing issues lately.

Did a drain and fill today so that at least I know it has enough of the right fluid. It was last done 25,000 miles ago but I am not sure if conventional or synthetic was used.

Pretty sure the crush washers were used a few times. One was tough to remove. Replaced with new ones.
