Yeah this might need to be my last hobby for a while. Once I get out fo school and tone down my Ultimate frisbee playing I might step this up to all grain brewing so I can actually make real beers that no one has ever made before, not just kits that I add some flavors or extra hops too. I hope it comes out well too it wont be to ridiculous on the gravity but my plan for the next brew is to add extra malt and boost it a good gravity like 8-9%. I already learned so much from this first batch and just asking questions and reading that I know the next one will be better just from that.

Shoot you ought to be able to find a dozen stores in the Atl area and I'm sure one of them will have a hot lady too. I am going with the 32oz self capping bottle. The ones with the Grolsch style stopper. Good for about 4-6 uses before you have to change the little gaskets on them. As for supplies there are a million places online now.

Good call on the grolschies.

You are right... there are tons of places here in Atl. I don't know about the hot chicks though... only place I know of for sure is in the Upstate :grinpimp:

Got me thinking about it again

man richard this is the most you have posted on MUD in forever........

it seems many of us cruiser heads have a passioin for brewing; we need to start have monthly brew partys :grinpimp:

I can speak from experience... it's addictive and can be a real artform. I never got to 100% all grain, but got away from kits, used grain with filler malt packs. It's a great hobby and there is a huge group of very serious brewers out there. I knew a bunch of them but didn't get in the "cult" like some of my friends did. I did join them for some taste testing parties though. Some GREAT beer.

Have fun with it. We'll have to swap some beers one day. That means I'm on the hook to make a couple batches. :grinpimp:

Well most of us do drink beer at every event. Does this not go hand in hand. I'm all up for drinking Richards free beer.:D

I'm gonna need you to keep cooking BBQ and wings and all that other stuff.

Thats not true JP I have been posting a fair amount in the football and bball threads.

My whole house smells like fermenting wort right now, great to me, like s*** to my fiance.

Just took a hyrdometer reading on my brew to help determine if fermentation is done. One more tomorrow and if all is smooth I'll be moving the beer to the secondary for clearing and conditioning. Tasted pretty good definitely needs the carbonation though. Sitting at about 4.7% alc right now, that wont really change though.

I broke two rear axle shafts and boogerd a diff ;)

I just moved my empty carboy out of the closet a week or two ago. I need to brew up a new batch myself.

Keep the light off that carboy. I usually keep mine in a dark closet wrapped up with a blanket.

Its wrapped in a blanket,it needs to stay where it is to maintain a reasonably constant temp though. I'll probably be ordering the supplies for the next batch sometime in the next few days.

yeah and up into the attic :flipoff2: Seriously guys you need to skip the bottles and go to kegging. So much less mess and time. the old soda kegs (metal ones, before the bags they use now) are perfect, 2.5 gallons each, so one batch is two kegs. Course every time i brew i end up mopping too so .......

oh and yesterday i started cleanin up this lil project :) I promise ill keep it Hetero...... metro at worst :grinpimp: , oh and we installed another bumper around here.

Went to NYC last weekend for a play; Cyrano w/ Kevin Kline and Jennifer Garner. Super show.
This weekend Atlanta for two nights of Widespread Panic at Phillips and possibly some STS9 at the Tabernacle, then hurrying back to watch the Cotton Bowl. My son will be there; field level on the 25. Little rat. Then he gets Eventhough's old snowboard and heads back to Portland OR to surf Mt Hood's several feet of powder.
Hate to miss the Peach-Fil-A Bowl but the WP tickets were already bought.

Culture break from spending every weekend either wheelin' or workin'.

Waiting now to get on a scouting trip.

Well I have tickets for the 30th as well and would sell mine for the 31st for face if you (or someone else) want them. Two tickets.

I wouldn't have bought them if I'd known Clemson was in the Peach Bowl that night.

Happy New Year.

I'm leaving for Atlanta. If anyone want the 31st tickets call me 864-325-1846.

Wow, looks like my cruiser.. mud dobbers n all...

Btw, I went to "Doug's Dogs" in columbia friday and spotted a sweet FJ60 UPstate Cruisers truck. It was tan, had a bullbar, and was towing a trailer. Very nice looking rig.

Well I did a little bottling today of the first beer and also got down to business on the second. Peanut Butter Oatmeal Stout is in the primary. Damn peanut butter had a lot more chunks than I though it kept clogging up my strainer funnel.

Good call. My roomate is on his 4th batch. We've gotten our double IPAs down pretty well and honestly we're starting to get a little obsessed with the whole home brew thing. Let me know if you run into any snags.

"Relax, have a home brew."

Nope no snags fermentation is just getting rolling, its light right now but I suspect by this afternoon when I have to leave it will be kicking. Anyone up for trying a couple at JP's HAMOM they will be a little green but should be drinkable.
