What did you do to your pig today? (5 Viewers)

Ya dude I'd bring those back and add three to four inches to the rear of that spring. In fact a good spring shop won't build spring without having the vehicle on location. I did some research on this matter a year ago. I called a few spring shops and no one would build me springs without my truck being there. The set up you got will limit your suspension sag and can lead to a spring inversion.

a good spring shop will build springs without the vehicle, but they will ask a heck of a lot of questions, including distance between spring hangers, weight, intended use, intended standard and max carrying capacity, etc.

as you go higher, your springs should get longer.

New battery terminals were causing electrical problems. Blew three hub studs probably because the front locker won't stay engaged. Slow leak in one of the beadlocks developed into a fast leak.

Just stupid crap that made a hot tough day worse.

Washed it and added a bunch of things to my list of to-do's. I have a fear that I have a bad 80 series Longfield on the right side. I can't imagine why? The entire axle was supposedly rebuilt and has less then 200 miles on it, and very little wheeling. I thought it was tire tread catching on the link, but I checked the steering stops and repainted the links and there is no sign of rub on them. Additionally the $600 supposed rebuilt 60 box that was installed is leaking like a SOB.

Also found out I am going to Germany for 2 years so the pig is going in storage. Any suggestions on things that absolutely have to be done before I store it? I have my dad that can go over, start it, drive it, etc.

Wrap it in shrink wrap and then vacuum seal it!

If you do that use lots of desiccant (stuff that takes moisture out of the air).

Damn Gumby we need some wheeling videos of you! Those 80 ff are supposed to be pretty tough. Was it bound up or was there a tire in the air spinning and that you came down on?

Fixed the broken stuff and took it back out.

Busted an 80 series FF rear axle.

(Scottryana) I 'd put it on jack stands with the suspension at full sag. New lubs and the right location.
( MY HOUSE) LOL ;)

Haha, sounds good. I don't think I would expect it to stay on jackstands for too long. LOL. It will be in a pretty arid place, I will just leave it in my dad's garage. Good idea on lifting it by the frame. Tires will not get flat spot and the won't be much stress on anything.

olive drab and gloss white. looks better than I thought it would

Drained and replaced the gear oil in both axles, tranny, & t-case. Filling the tranny from underneath is a PITA! :bang:

You're telling me! I ended up using a 150 ml syringe I had laying around and filled it up that way. It was still hard as hell.

assembled tcase. 3 speed gears in a 4 speed case. .0045-.005" of idler thrust. bearing preload feels good-install pending procurement of a fish scale.
