Yeah, engine temps. So I've driven my 80 for six years--mostly stock, I have replaced radiator and hoses and fresh Toyota coolant--a little disconcerting to hear it boiling when I raise the hood after some good backcountry climbing. Always seems to cool down and no long term issues. Normal?

Fellow AZ LX450:
Are you sure it was the coolant? I had an old charcoal canister with plugged ports, and bad gas cap that would cause pressure build up in the charcoal canister from hot gasoline. It would percolate after hill climbs, in the heat, more so with low fuel. The gas recirculates through the engine bay back to the tank, and slow climbing seemed to be the worst case (more gas went back to the tank than was burned).
The stock coolant temp gauge doesn't really move from about 193'F up to >210'F. But boiling coolantshould be >225'F and the gauge starts to go above horizontal.
Next time TAKE CARE and loosen the gas tank cap - if it rushes out biggly then that is your problem. These are warm gasoline fumes - highly flammable. When the pressure drops the gas may boil.
Found the easiest way to avoid this is to have a spare. Have a spare you'll never need it. Years ago bought two bins of FJ62 parts off CL for $75. That included every window motor, power door lock and power antenna. Not sure I needed any of the items in the bins.
Mine lasted 22 years. I replaced the motor with the one from rear right door for cost reason. Motor mounted fine but the connector needed a transplant.

Same in Happy Jack. That and weekends half the traffic on the highways in the area are side by sides. On FB one of the subdivisions in the area it's been posted people are parking multiple trailers are their property and the white flowers are everywhere.

I consider it cheap insurance. Always seems if I don't have a part and need I can't find it or it's ridiculously price. I can't even remember all the parts those tubs contained. Know they had a power steering pump, power steering box and power antenna. I have no way near as many spare parts for my FJ62 as I do for my FJ40s. When I see how much this parts are selling for could start selling them and retire.
