Builds What did you do to your Land Cruiser/Toyota/Lexus 4X4 this week?

Consolidated all my camping gear into Ridgid Pro Toolboxes. They stack and latch together, they have a dirt/water o-ring seal and they are very rigid to double as a camp seat. I have a single roller for all the sleeping gear that lets me stack it all up and roll it into the house for storage.

I don't have a pic of it installed, but I found this little LED that has a light and a battery mount, encased in silicone that is meant to clip onto a shirt or a book. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01I9FWISE/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I1SHRAO99X8G4&colid=39Q5Q5S1UU33U I removed the magnetic part from the silicone and used some 3M tape to stick the magnet into the recess of the lid then cut the silicone off the light part (if I removed the silicone, the button went with it) and now have a removable magnetic light inside each tote to see the contents. I highly recommend this setup!

This layout is the best for my truck given the large container (Sleep Kit) with the wheels. Without the wheeled kit, I turned everything 90* and can fit two columns of Med/Small boxes quite nicely. I can ratchet strap these in place nicely and it easily accommodates my Tepui Tent ladder and my 4' folding table.

Two columns with Large wheeled tote (buried in the back):

Two columns without Large wheeled tote (probably a better fit for most people):

My Sleeping Kit (hammocks, tent, inflatable mattresses):

My Hot Dog Kit (kitchen part 1 for grilling, day camp, dehydrated meals, sandwiches, etc. The No Cook kit):

Mess Kit (kitchen part 2 when cooking is required):

In the last steps of finishing normal maintenance and repairs on our 06 cruiser since we got it last year.

Did a pressure brake bleed, replaced all the rubber bushings and links at both sway bars. Changed out axle and transfercase fluids.

Next up 5 speed transmission service and flush and front aux condenser fan from @LandCruiserPhil

Changed my wheels and tires to go with a more classic-mod look (will be keeping the centerlines though)

Laces out....DAN...

dig the lettering facing out. Super clean looking truck Murf.
what a beauty.

I like the rear tire cover Murph....where did you locate it?

I had the upholstery company we've been dealing with for years custom make me one. They gave me fabric swatches to choose from then they took my spare tire assembly for about a week and made it to fit. cost a little more than on line covers but it is the longer lasting heavy duty marine vinyl, fits good, and feels like it will last longer.

Stock wheels widen or aftermarket wheels with hub cap clips added?

I found some used vented 15x9 Chevy truck wheels for a decent deal. I then had the center bore enlarged and clips added for the Toyota hub cap. Followed up with stripping and powder coating. In the end, it almost cost about the same as shipping OE's to Stockton Wheel to have widened. lol

I do like the vented wheel for cooling the brakes....hard to see since its black

Murf's 82, remember a beige 76 bought last year, I have a beige 70 and 76. Believe there may be another one or two beige FJ40s in the club. Possible the official FJ40 club color for the 40 series?

Just got done installing and wiring in @LandCruiserPhil condenser fan. I wired my fan to turn on when the a/c compressor turns on. Pretty easy with a 4 prong relay. Here some pictures and a close up of the compressor signal wire color if any one else is interested in wiring it the same. Wire is black/yellow

Also finished doing the transmission service on our 06 cruiser. It's a little pain to fill it back up due to access and not having a electric or pheumatic pump but with time it gets done. With 213k miles I didn't know if it was ever serviced but fluid still reddish and nothing bad found in the pan. The 4 magnets had what I would say normal findings for the miles.

Had to swap in a new re manufactured starter in the 80 before the run yesterday. Getting the click, click and if I bumped it enough it would finally start.

I may need to install an LCP fan to keep my temps down while wheeling with the AC on, Scangauge adds a new level of paranoia. Once the summer finally dies out it will stop being a concern but easier to be enthusiastic about wrenching when it's not 108 in the garage.
