What Color is (was) my 40?

Ok, so this sounds like a stupid question, (and it might be) but I'm a bit confused. My FJ40 (below) was built in 6/1975. I have looked at the color charts, and that would apparently make the shade of white T12 "Cygnus". Looks like they went to T031 "white" the following year. Since mine is dead smack in the middle of 1975, I'm not sure when that change-over actually took place.

I was also under the impression that my roof and bezel should be Cygnus White has well.

As you can see in the picture below, the roof and the rest of the truck are pretty clearly two different shades of white, with the roof being "brighter." If there ever was a color code plate, it is long gone. Does anyone know what combinations of white my FJ40 is?

The Bezel is currently black - from my reading, this was never a stock option - Bezel should always be the same shade of white as the roof, right?

Can you check the trim tag? There should be a tag on the passenger inner fender and one on the driver A-pillar. I forget which one shows color code.

Trim Tag is history - Only tags I have are the ones outlining the smog/engine on the driver's side door frame, and the "options code" tag in the glove box, which apparently are not color codes...

My guess is T012 Cygnus White on the body, T302 Shell Ivory for the roof/bezel

Just wondering when in 1975 they switched to T031 or if it was truly 1/76. Frankly I think if I put the two side by side I probably wouldn't know the difference.

I did, but my truck is a mid 1975 FJ40 - 1975 was cygnus white and 1976 was 031 white. Since my truck is in the middle of the transition I guess there really isnt a good way to tell.

Kind of what I thought. Once it becomes time to paint I will probably go with Cygnus White and Ivory for the roof and Bez. If I had to wager a guess I'd say that was the original color.

My only tag which had a color code was low on the passenger side fender. It was not until i took my truck apart that i saw it was 031.

Hey FJsnoozer, took a look, no fender plate. The engine bay has been repainted by the PO (to black) so the plate was probably covered then...
