I am planning on installing one of these in my LC shortly and hooking it up to my prestigious society adapter and hook a wireless keyboard/mouse.

I guess they redesigned the center stack. I have this compartment specifically for phones, which looks to be where the ashtray was in older vehicles:

What year vehicle was the redesign? 2016?

My 200 came with the Nite Ize Steelie on the center console, so I added the mount for my iPhone 7 and really like the combo. Very secure and adjustable and it's easy to sync up when I get in. Never had a mount for a cell phone in the past, but I'm really digging this one.

My 1st hand experience says, the only downside to this is if your phone is near your wallet, the magnet on back of phone will torch all of the magnetic strips on credit cards etc. BUT, this controls a wife's spending too.

Also I learned the magnet will mess with the controller on a drone like my Mavic Pro so I had to ditch it.

This works for me.

Thanks for this thread!!!! We just purchased our first LC and, of the million things I have researched this year, phone location was not one ( and we use Waze like it’s cool)...

We just ordered a Ram mount made for motorcycles and are planning to clamp to the parking brake. Placement will be perfect- procximal to usb charge port/ decent placement for reach/ doesn’t obstruct view or other controls/ etc/ etc....

I’ll report back when it yanks the truck into a tail slide at 80, lol.

This is the model we are trying: RAM-B-149Z-A-UN10U ... is available on Amazon. Thanks again!

I like my magnet mounts and use them in all my cars. Trick is to use multiple mounts. A single magnet mount is great for street. But two works wonders for additional stability and staying power off-road. I do the same with my sports car on spherical bushings and it all stays in place and couldn't be easier to use.

Came here to report that this sticky mount lasted 15 days on my dash before failing today. My windshield is tinted with ceramic IR tint and it's March, so not even remotely hot here yet. Pretty disappointed.
I wouldn't even risk sticking something on the dash and potentially damaging it. Be glad it felt off. Maybe a year from now you would be crying that the dash is damaged or mount just fell off and you have a big discolored circle now

Wow that is disappointing. I'm glad you posted. I kind of expected a similar result when I was putting it on. With the adhesive base, I followed the directions and let the base "cure" about 2 days before attaching the arm and the x grip to it. That was in June of 2019 and I am still using it today without issues. I don't know sh#@ about adhesive properties, so I will leave it at that.

I had previously experienced a similar result as you did with the twist lock suction cup mount on the glass.

The "Best upgrades for under $100" thread has basically turned into a phone holder conversation. You might find some ideas there. Proclip gets a lot of chatter.

I am a bit frustrated as I just cannot seem to pick a good spot for the iphone 6 to stay in. I tried ashtray, but when I shift to Park it hammers the phone. And it will fall out on some turns occasionally. The drink holder areas is OK but not when I have drinks! The cooling box is no good as it's a PIA to retrieve it. Anyone have any good ideas. I may just do the whole magnetic route again, but am a bit undecided.
These work really well. I’ve got one stuck right above the start button and in the same small “flat” spot on the other side of the dash. You can turn your phone sideways and it occludes the start stop button...and keeps it out of the way of the air conditioner vent.

though, I’d recommend you buy the two sided 30 lb tape and use that rather than the sticky stuff included. The stuff included, if I had to guess, was probably 15-20 lb.

...admittedlty terrible photo, but used a Ram mount attached to e-brake handle. it is super solid and within close reach of my hand when driving. i have had this setup for 2years with no issues.. Yes the e-brake functions same as before
