Were heated seats an option in the 80s or 450s?

Not here but elsewhere.

When I was over in Europe I tried to hook up with someone to get a set from a truck in Brussels since I had free shipping home, but it fell through.

That said, you can retrofit heaters. Christo has some on his site.

my '94 has them -- switches look oem and put them in the top coin-holder, nearest the center arm rest --

Eric - Can we see some pics? I saw the seat heaters on the Slee site and was thinking about adding them, just want to see where I would add the controls for them :D

That'll probobly be the second mod the 80 gets. As it's the wifey's car and her main selling point on any vehicle is if it has heated seats.

Yup - the wife was behind this question. I think we only took my vehicle a handful of times last winter because she always wanted to ride in hers with the heated seats. (I'll have to admit that I like them too on a cold winter morning!) ;)

Question from a newbie (to the 80, I've owned a 62):

On a scale of 1 to 10, is this an easy (1) mod, or a hard one (10)? And where would I find them?

Thx --

Eric - I would agree, your switch looks pretty stock to me, I like!

The hardest part of the modification is getting the seat covers off to place the heating elements under the skins.

I've never removed the skins from a LC seat, but depending on how they are attached it could be very easy, or a job for an upholstery shop.

you gotta read the posts before yours  Junk wrote that Christo sells them, if you look two posts above yours Christo has a link to his website. Other than that if you do a google (or similar) search you will find a bunch of vendors.

I like heated w/leather, but on my cloth interior, I don't need it :D

If the wife asks me for a seat heater, I will just tell her to eat more beans :flipoff2:

It can't be that difficult. I'm a work at a Chevrolet/Chrysler dealer, and the heated seat elements are always going bad on the Town & Country's. The covers are held on by a big plastic clip at the bottom front of the seat. Once that is undone, the cushion is velcroed to the cushion where the seams are. Unless it's like the our Chevy's, (they use hog rings to hold the seat cover to the cushion). If that's the case, you just need a pair of dykes and some hog ring pliers. I wouldn't think the Toyota seat would be much different. I don't know the banana scale, but it's not too difficult. OR, it could be a freakin' PITA!! It seems to me that the Japanese engineers make their products easy and pleasant to work on though.

thats some sexy lookin seats you got there... did you replace the padding as well under the seats?
