meaning any 4 bolt chevy manual tranny will fit on her sm420 and sm465.
But i'm having to do some research on if the input shaft for the 420/465 are long enough, on some large commercial/industurial trucks they actually had longer input shafts.
Sourcing one of these should not be an issue.
But these engine will be much easier to find in generator/fridgerator applications than they were in vehicles/step vans/trucks so i got to find out how hard/if possible it is to mod the governer for street applications.
I'm also having to research happy cruising rpms, being similar to the 4bt might mean overdrive is a must.
This means a ranger over drive might be needed and if i have problems with the input shaft gap difference a spud shaft would have to be fabricated to make up for the extra space.
This is all just in "research" stages right now. But it looks like it could be promising.
