Got some fab work done in the last few days using the spare head I have, I'm going to be removing the stock y pipe and cats so I can test fit this and get placement for the down pipe, then I will address the plumbing for the wastegate. The bar in the center is still the temporary bracing, it will be removed and replaced with a different setup.

Got the manifold tacked up enough to do some test fitting in the truck to see where the downpipe and wastegate fit. I might mount the wastegate directly on the exhaust housing but i'm still working on placement.. The A/C line will be removed, I chopped and rotated the spare fitting i have that sits on the firewall and will be running a new line along firewall and the fender then shoot it across to the compressor. I still need to buy a bunch more material, I will be using oval 3" equivalent tubing right where the cat use to be to keep the exhaust up high.

What exhaust flex coupler are you using? I have had my first coupler blow out after 9 years and want a good replacement. I bought the Vibrant turbo flex but it doesn't look all that great....
I'm using a 3" for the DP and a 1.75" for the WG that I got from aceraceparts.com they are "local" to me 60 miles roughly, so I get the parts next day. 3.000" Flex Bellow (with Inner Liner) x 4.000" Overall Length - 304 Stainless - https://www.aceraceparts.com/products/1-5-flex-bellow-assembly-304-stainless?variant=11002653316
9 years seems pretty decent. I wonder if you moved the coupler further down stream on the downpipe if it it would last longer? I worked for audi for 14 years and we had the 2.7T engine, its a bi turbo V6 and that specific engine had the weaved flex couplers not the accordion looking style but probably 2.5-3 feet from the turbine housings and those seemed to last a very very long time, right up stream of the flex point was where the downpipe mounted to the trans, not sure if how the mounting was designed played into the longevity of the parts or if it was strictly a materials quality thing.

Ok cool, I used Aceraceparts for all my stainless weld els. I am also using a lined flex section but it does have the stainless steel weave. I guess I can't complain to much about 9 years, I guess it just doesn't seem like it was that long ago that I put it all together. It is hell to get old! Haha.

I also got all my 321 weld els from them as well and have a weave flex section going where the cats use to be. Got the A/C line out and started on the DP. I really need more materials now as I'm out. Also going to pull everything off and get that WG plumbed in.

Nice cut.

Thanks! it's actually easier than most think just take your time and measure well. A quality hacksaw blade and some boelube makes short work of the tubing and a 12" disc sander cleans the edge up nice. I had a harbor freight chineseium band saw at one point but it got destroyed, i might pick up one of their better ones soon as it's nice to just set it and let it rip..
Please keep the updates coming! This is what I planned on doing well over a decade ago when I bought my LX450.
Keep checking in, tons more updates coming up in the future, not super immediate future as i have a few trips planned which is keeping me from ordering more parts and materials, probably going to take a month or so off for updates due to plans but i'll be back soon enough!

So I took 9 days off to go on a road trip to Yellowstone/Tetons and visit family, 6 states and 3,150 miles later I'm back. I didn't take the 80 cause it's not ready for a long haul like that yet and I'm glad I didn't because due to the time constraints it just wouldn't have been very enjoyable. Not to mention going through the Tetons and various other mountain passes at 8k feet during the summer heat might would have been pretty taxing on the current engine with 226k. I wasn't going to risk a break down so it was a no brainer to just hop in the minivan have a smooth sailing while doing 80-90 mph the whole way. Anyway.... got back in the garage today and got the tubing to the waste gate fabed up, ran out of materials to get the outlet side of the gate done. I just ordered a massive list of things from partsouq and got some pistons and head studs on their way from Australia, and a few other orders for random bits and pieces oem and aftermarket. stay tuned....

Got the holes cut in the manifold so we can attach the wastegate tubes. Basically the manifold is ready to fully burn together. Got my pistons and headstuds in today, some sweet units from Ross racing. They are 9.0-1 compression and .5mm oversize. With the pin they weigh roughly 756 grams, there are no rings on em yet obviously. Stock weigh around 780. The headstuds were labeled for a 1fz per spool's website and sticker but I verified that they are essentially identical to a set of 2jz arp headstuds. Got all my parts ordered for my air to water intercooler setup as well as fuel pump and filter and some random other fittings. Also figured out what ignition coils i will be running after trying to measure and compare several. I will be using toyota units out of a 2grfe as they are pretty much the only ones out there that are long enough with out modifications to boots or springs..
