While in the middle of the drive back to TX from CO my right side turn signals (all exterior and dash indicator) turned themselves on, even though the turn signal stalk is still in the off position. But they don't flash, it's a solid steady on. My HIDs had been acting up the last few months, and assumed it was related to the HID relay harness as well, but after I swapped relay harness the HIDs are working perfectly again, but the turn signals still are not. Just to be safe, I disconnected all the HID stuff and the problem persisted. After playing around with the lights, I found:
While headlights are off, both sides flash as normal, however the dash lights dim in sync with the right turn signal flashing.
While the headlights are on (auto on or manual on), left side works fine, and the right side stays solidly illuminated, I can also hear the blinker relay clicking fast as if a bulb is out when the right side is activated.
None of the exterior lights seem to be out, fuses look fine, and I swapped the blinker relay with a new one which didn't fix anything either. I made sure the ground on the main battery is good and clean (second battery looks fine too, nothing is actually on it right now though). Searching hasn't found me much on this topic sadly. I'm still wondering if it is a bad ground somewhere, but have no idea where else to look. I suspect this started in the middle of a downpour somewhere in the TX panhandle, as it first occurred some time during the the day, and there's no reason my lights would have been on otherwise (since the right side turn signals only illuminate when the lights are on, I wouldn't have noticed this is the lights were off). It's not like the car is new to bad weather though, so this may have just been a coincidence.
