Hi all!
I think I have looked in all the existing subwoofer posts.
But I have not found one like mine, it’s a Pioneer?
My car is a 2006 HDJ100 euro spec.
The subwoofer looks a lot like yours, but it’s ported and a Pioneer unit?
I’m looking at upgrading the speaker, so any info on this would be helpful.

That ported enclosure is dope. I think that mean it’s dual 3ohm. If so you can series parallel an d4 Sub to get 8ohm Which will be fine as long as you pick a woofer that doesn’t ask for more power than the factory amp puts out. Or just use a d4 in regular wiring arrangement

It says two times 3.2 Ohms on the label, you’re right on!

So I got no info on this, so I took it out to measure it to find a suitable replacement sub.

Internal volume: 7L or 0.25cu/ft
Port: Ø40mm or 1.57” length approx. 120mm or 4.72”

I’m looking at the SKAR EVL6.5 or JL 6W3v3-4
The latter has a recommendation for a 0.25cu/ft vented enclosure. But it seems the port needs to be extended 8-10”...
Input will be appreciated!😉

I just got my Skar EVL6.5 and was told they sound great.

There's some trimming involded. But doesn't look that bad.

I always get this image of manufacturing on a pirate ship with everyone drunk on rum ...

SKARRRRRR

For what it's worth, skar is a shameless clone of sundown audio

That JL sub is very very nice, the output is surprising. I have it in the factory box, but mine was sealed. If you wanted to stay ported, you could potentially add a flexible tube inside the box to extend the length of the existing port.

I’d get the jl if it fits based on the driver depth. It asks for 50-150 which I believe is probably accurate and not a sub that demands a large enclosure. Im not a skar hater I just have doubts of performance in the stock enclosure application.

I've considered adding the needed lenght to the port on the outside, should be possible! But having seen how much space is available in the other side, I might just go with a custom box there instead...

It's better than stock... But I give it a MEH!

Lol! I assumed that outcome. I wouldn’t honestly put anything rated more than 50 watts on the factory amp and I’d probably pick a driver with higher sensitivity and much smaller magnet than those subs. It’s awesome you guys are satisfied tho

It definitely sounds better than PFF PFF PFF. LOL

I only did it because I had that panel out and only took less than 30 minutes. I researched and found that Skar will bolt on without major modifications.

Oh yeah sorry, I'm running the JL on aftermarket amp. Factory amp is anemic at best.

Totally smart, blown speakers are the worst. Make you not even want to drive it. That’s how it was for me when I got my 2003 and blew the speaker on the way to the tire shop

The sound system can be a rabbit hole. The more you're going down the more crap you want to replace. LOL
Truth but honestly if the oem screen wasn’t all built into the dash nothing in these 16+ year old cars would be worth keeping compared to The clean signal Provided by even entry level aftermarket receivers. Certainly guys who arent aggro about audio And just want to “listen to the radio” can sing praises all day long about diy refoams and old levinson factory amps but there’s just no comparison.

Wholeheartedly agree... I rather buy a new set of speakers for $$$, than to do the DIY refoam. You can buy a good set for less than $150. But to each their own. :)

Dropping in a new speaker is 10 times faster than doing the refoam. I always see it as time vs money. Money comes and goes... Time just goes.

But that's me... Everyone is different.
