I picked it up even though it's not the Performer model. Seems to be identical except for the LP starter. They threw in a bunch of accessories, too, so it turned out to be a pretty good deal. Heck, the Weber 1 touch Gold (same model) is $150). The cart feels quite sturdy, they had the charcoal fuel holders, a vegetable basket, more charcoal than they posted in the ad, a bag of mesquite chips, a charcoal chimney, and some other misc stuff. I'm happy. Can't wait to Q this weekend!!!

I bought my Weber Genesis from a local Ace (not Home Depot), I think about 7-8 years ago. A lot of the spot welds have let go on the cart, the whole thing racks back and forth now. One of the small steer casters has fallen apart, I have to keep a brick under that foot. I'll pull it all apart this spring and weld it up, and get a new caster for it. We use it 2-3 times a week, even in the winter.

One of mine is an older Genesis silver C. One of the casters was also missing wheels. Went to OSH yesterday and they had a 5/16" stem caster which is only a hair more than the original stem (0.295"). A quick pass with a 5/16" drill bit through the plastic mount and the caster fit in just right. Exact match otherwise, same size and all. Didn't even have to buy a matching pair. Works great. $2.19+tx.

Both frames look good and strong on mine. But the main thing is like is the very sturdy cast aluminum main body. That thing will just last forever. Everything else can be easily replaced or fixed.

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised and impressed when I bought a couple of small parts directly from Weber, they were surprisingly reasonable with pricing. Less than anywhere else online or in store, even with not-inexpensive shipping cost. Unsual. Usually a manufacturer will rape you with direct sale prices. Another reason I like them.

You really rebuild old grills for fun?

Paint me cheap, but this turns out the best beef steak.;)

not for fun, for steaks! :)

and who wouldn't want to have 4 grills on the patio? You put them in a square, get yourself in the middle with a full cooler and spend a great day in the sun... :D

Used my new-to-me Weber this weekend. I must say that I'm very please with the results. Comparatively, I used less charcoal, got a hotter direct heat, and much longer potential cook time using the Weber over a similar sized WM special. I think it has to do with the differences in shape and air inlet location. The Weber is more egg shaped and the inlet is below the coals, where the other one is more of a 18"X18"X10" box and has inlets on both sides. I think the Weber design drafts air thru the coals, keeping them hotter, whereas the other one allows the fresh air to work on the outside 1/4ish of the coals directly in front of the vents before it is drafted out the lid.

I have a nice Weber propane grill with SS grates. Purchased new from homo depot a few years ago. Works great, but wife like the flavor when using charcoal. It has not been used in over 1 year.

Now, I use the Lodge Logic L410 grill for all grilling. I bought 2 of them to be used together when I have lot of meat to cook. Just need to build a rolling cart/stand for them. Made of heavy cast iron and Made in the USA.

I like the Lodge grill too. It's small, though, but perfect for 2 people if you want to use charcoal. It is extremely well made. But since I'm lazy about such things, 99% of the time it's Weber propane.
