Just picked up this 74 FJ40 and the previous owner de-smogged it and added a weber carb. It appears the previous owner was in the process of replacing the old fuel tank when he passed away. I hooked up the fuel tank and now I’m a bit confused when I see the carb and no obvious port to connect the fuel line return from the gas tank. Also which port on the carb does the line from the charcoal canister go to?

I don't know - did a 74 have a return gas line. Not a Weber fan.

Webers don't need a return line. You may have to run a regulator though as they are finicky about pressure. When they are dialed in, they are great but they take some time and each vehicle is different. That's my experience with them, anyway.
Oh, and your comment about the charcoal canister... you said it was de-smogged?
You are probably talking about the one at the tank?
I think that a good de-smog keeps the charcoal canister. Charcoal canister does not need to vent to the carb, mine vents to atmosphere.

Yes it is but everything I’m reading the proper setup is to still have the charcoal canister to control the fuel fumes.

Yes coming out of the fuel tank one one side are three fuel vapor lines that go into a three port fuel vapor separator that converts it to one line coming out of the fuel vapor separator and that line goes to the charcoal canister in the engine bay which helps manage and divert the fuel vapors, just teying to figure out where to connect the exit line out of the charcoal canister but looks like leaving the exit line unplugged and venting into the air in the engine bay might be the way to go.

It’s tough finding the bracket to hold the canister and a decent oem charcoal canister. I have read that some folks have used a AC Delco Chevy charcoal canister and they plug in just fine. I have to find out what model to buy.
