Hi All,

Just picked up a 40th Anniv Green FZJ80.

Unfortunately, it was missing things like center caps and floor mats.

Trying to find the replacement 40th mats but in the mean time, wanted to look for all weather mats.

So I had a couple of questions. For those of you that have either the weathertech or husky cargo liners, do they have center cutouts for the third row seats to slide through?

Also, my carpet is brown. And I am thinking about getting the front, middle, and cargo liner in tan. However, saw some posts of some getting the husky liners in black even though their carpet is brown. Any reason why this was a better route to go with? Pics?

Thanks.

I have both brands in my 2 cruisers.

They all fit well. I went with beige like the interior. I like the deep recesses. They keep snow, ice, and water from making a mess.

Hi Rich,

Do you have a preference between either set?

And can you tell me if the cargo liners in both have cut outs for the third row?

I've never had a set of the weathertech so I can't speak to them.

I have the huskys -- front, middle and cargo area. the middle (2nd row) is a perfect/tight fit. the one downside to that one is that the vents for the rear heater are blocked by the mat.

years ago when I got them, they only came in black, IIRC.
the husky cargo area liner isn't cut out, but has "marks" where you can cut through for the 3rd row seats, if you want to cut through them...which you'd need to do in order to secure your 3rd row seats.

no complaints at all with the huskys.

I've got both. Both are good. I prefer the WeatherTech as they are a little beefier.

Husky

limerence, I had the same questions and ended up getting tan and am glad I did.

I have the rear liner backwards in the last picture so I can use the hinged lids on my drawers to access my jack area, but you can see how the 3rd row cutouts look.

Here are some pics:

I would really like to see how these look and fit in a cruiser. Do you have any pictures?

I vote for WeatherTech !

I've used both but my vote goes to WeatherTech based on their CEO's Pro-America stance.

David MacNeil (CEO) has written many times about what he and his company are doing to keep Americans employed and to keep manufacturing here in the United States. If both product are 'equal', which I believe thay are, I'll go with WeatherTech everytime because of their commitment to this Country !

Rgds...

P.S. You can read David's comment at their website: I wish all CEO's expressed themselves and took a position like he does !

I don't think WeatherTech is still making the high-side liners for the 80 series. I know Husky is because I just put in a new set. I called WT when I was looking around to ask if they were available and they said no. This could be just the model I was looking to buy. I do like the Husky's because they have the spikes on the bottom that keep the mat in place. WT's are a little beefier and more custom fit, but the H's are nice also.

From what I have read the spikes on the Husky's don't keep them in place because they are so light weight. And they slip on that large plastic mat that is sewn into the carpet on the DS. Most keep the stock carpet mat in and put the Husky liners on top so they won't slip as much.

The Weather Tech All Weather Mats also have spikes on the bottom but the weight and width of them doesn't allow them to move at all.

cme4, Husky liners are made in Winfield, KS.

Note that the Weathertech mats are semi-universal mats, so you may have to trim them for proper fit. The Weathertech floor liners are nice but not available for the 80. Also the Weathertech gray tends to stain easily, I've had two sets in other cars.

The Husky mats are also semi-universal, but also cheaper. From what I can find the Husky floor liners are only available for the 80 in tan or gray, no black. The cargo liners are still available in black.

I've had both and prefer the Husky, though I agree with them not staying in place as well as I'd like. I'd have a set today but I can't find them in black.

Thanks guys.

I think I'm going to go with the Husky liners for the fronts and middles. I like the weathertech floormats but the footprint that bluetribal showed in his review of the weathertechs isn't as engulfing as the Husky. It doesn't look like weathertech makes front or middle row liners, only mats for our cruisers. However, NorcalDoug brought up a good point in that the down side of the Husky liners would be it covering the middle row heaters. Has anyone cut around it?

For the cargo liners, any difference between the two? Husky have the templates to cut out if need be, do the weathertechs come precut or are templatized to be cut?

Thanks

Last time I looked, Weathertech didn't offer a kit for the 80. I bought the Husky in grey and it fits great. I haven't noticed the driver's side slipping but I may just kick it back in place without thinking about it. The Husky liners cover the rear heater vent so I have been meaning to trim that down a little bit. I couldn't be happier with the Husky liners.

Does anyone have a line on Husky liners in black? I can't find them for sale and they aren't shown on the Husky website in black, it's gray and tan only. The rear cargo liner is available in black, gray, and tan. Gray or tan would look really odd against my brown interior.

Yes, I agree the Weathertech is a bit better quality bit the Husky does have a deeper well for show, ice, mud and other junk you drag in the truck.

The Weathertech comes with cutout guides for the third row seats ... Mine are not cut out. I assume Husky would be teh same.

The Husky is not as robust but offers better protection from a large buildup of water, snow, ice, or crud due to the height of the edges being so much higher.

I've had all three rows of Husky liners in my truck since I bought it and they still look as good as new, even after all the salt/snow/sand/gravel/mud/water/sawdust/oil/junk that I've tracked on them or thrown in the back. I have no complaints about their durability :meh:

I trimmed the spikes off the back of the driver's liner where it sits on the dead pedal so the liner fits better. Mine doesn't slide around (I don't have OEM carpet) but maybe trimming the spikes off the liner where it covers the factory vinyl pads might let it grip the carpet better?

I have the huskys -- front, middle and cargo area. the middle (2nd row) is a perfect/tight fit. the one downside to that one is that the vents for the rear heater are blocked by the mat.

same here on all accounts. Going to notch the mat myself.

Husky liners are the best. More durable long term and fit all areas well. I threw a set of weather tech fronts away after using them for a short time years ago. My Husky's are pushing 13 years and are in fine condition.
