The FSM did not say that the entire front is the vehicle had to come off to get to the water pump. And worse, made no mention that the engine mount has to be removed to get it out! What a pain!

The inlet tube was trapped behind the adjuster bracket, which was a part of the AC bracket. AC bracket is a part of the motor mount, so I can't think of any other way we could have done it.

I just replaced mine without doing all of those things, but my air conditioner setup was pulled out and stuffed in a box for me to sort out so maybe that was the difference?

I had to pull the fan, belts, the radiator hoses, fan shroud, and the thermostat assembly. Radiator stayed in. I think that air conditioner bracket is still intact in mine evn with the air conditioner parts in a box. Maybe the difference is I planned on replacing all the hoses so I pulled that and the thermostat. Then I had plenty of room to pull out the bolts holding the water pump and it came out with the thermostat because the two are connected by that super annoying elbow hose. In putting it all back together, I wish that I had secured the thermostat to the water pump before I installed the two to the engine block because that little hose that connects the two is nearly impossible to cinch down with a clamp afterwards.
