Disc brake cruisers (40's,60's) use the same lockout as as the solid axle mini's. IFS mini hubs are a different spline and height.

Although you can convert the IFS lockouts to a 30 spline by using Bobby Longs hub gears. You still have to use the IFS wheel bearing hub, mount it different, different rotors.....that's a different thread. :)

That is it. IFS are different that solid axle. Thanks. I knew different splines but did not know they were a different height too.

I'm thinking I may be wrong about the lockout height. I was thinking about the bearing hub being 1 1/2" wider on IFS trucks. I'm pretty sure lockouts are the same height, as well as bearing hubs. I'll check it out.

the 1984 SR5 pickup I just bought came with WARN locking hubs. I am trying to decide whether to just by a rebuild kit for them or replace them with AISIN hubs.

What are the advantages/disadvanteges of warn vs aisin

When we tested them in our machine the Toy aisin hub broke at 6000 ft lbs. an the Warn hubs broke at 4900ft lbs. Maybe this will help.
Thanks Bobby

I just realized that Bobby long field actualy replied in this thread. If this ain't pinned flagged with honors it should be

I was wondering what to do with my fj62 hubs and this thread says it all. Thanks for the info.....it's time to rebuild my hubs...

That sucks! When did Warn start doing that? They used to be steel (- at least back in the 20th century ) What is their thinking, using aluminum on a high stress component in a drive train? I'd like to see the design rational and understand their motives. :hmm:
My 78 FJ40 had Warns installed by the dealer and were aluminum and they did not install them right and the outer gasket was sticking out which allowed water in and I needed the adjustable wrench to turn them. I was not able to get a rebuild kit in College and was going to just put drive flanges on but at the time were the same price as a pair of Warn hubs. I replaced them with a new set of hubs and never had any problems..

In retro spec I should have had the dealer fix the hub and and replace the rear main seal that leaked from the very beginning for over 100K miles.

When I rebuilt my front axle I did a big brake kit that included IFS hubs that allowed me to have the same track as the rear FJ60 axle. They came with new packed bearings and mated right up with the FJ40 spindles no problem and bolted up to the FJ60 knuckles. I reused the front wheel hubs on the rear axle and internally everything is the same I can use my 54mm hub socket on all 4 hubs.

Since I went with RVC Birfield axle shafts I got a set of HD Aisin hubs that have O-rings and Chromalloy gear to made up with the axle shaft.

I thought my Aisins looked fine. Dugan (owns ACC Garage) disagreed. Patty was there for something unrelated. Dugan said "Your hubs looked like crap and I was bored."

So, some media blasting, some powder coating, some paint, some new hardware... Okay, he was right. And no - he didn't charge me a dime.
