Hi all..hope you all had a good old years night..i have a 2001 amazon with AHC which has the standard 275/70-16`s on at moment..i want to change to 285/75/16s BFG A/Terrains..anyone know if i would have any rubbing problems when turning on full lock or traveling at (N) normal height on or offroad and can i expect a lot more road noise/rumble or are these tyres pretty quite on road..thanks.

They will fit. Little more noise than a standard road tire. 285 is mm of width of tire. 75 is aspect ratio(75% of 285mm=213.75mm tall) 16 is rim diameter in inches.

You could even go to a 295 without rubbing issues. They will fit.

Recent research suggests that even 305s will fit with no to minimal rubbing. I'm going to test that theory in the near future and see.

295 is pushing it. They rub in a few spots. 305's you better get out the BFH and wheel spacers. Also keep in mind if you live where there is snow and ice. Build up in the wheel wells can make for more rubbing.

I'm running 305 KM-2's and have zero rubbing. My 295 A/T's rubbed on the frame, and windshield fluid cover (on the bumpstops). 305's do not touch the frame. They are close to the a-arm but still enough room. Maybe a normal sized index finger. Can take pictures if any one wants to see.

Thats perfect no rubbing..think 285/75-16 is as big as i would go..been told a higher side wall reduces the engines preformance..any true in that.

you'll have a larger circumference on you tire, so yes, the engine will seem more sluggish...but not at the 285 size you're looking at...

But it also effectively gives you a taller highway gear for cruising an you still have 4L if you need the low range.

Like others have said the bfg 285/75 16s fit fine. I just had a set put on last week. I had good luck with them on my 80 series (and tundras and several f250s), and like them equally well on the 100. It is a slightly more harsh ride than the stock LTXs but I much prefer it.

No rubbing, almost as quiet ride as normal road tires and no problems with the motor way cruising and i hope my mpg..i will order a set tomorrow..many thanks to all.

Post some pics when you get them on, Andy! :D

I've had a couple sets of those tires and they"re great accept for they sling gravel into your wheel wells and makes some racket.
