Wanted FJ55 in So-Cal

I've loved these trucks since they first came out and now I've just got to have one. What should i look for (good stuff) and what should i watch out for (other then rust) How much should I expect to pay for one thats in really good shape?

Welcome to MUD.

I don't think that I will be able to add a lot to your question because we all have our own definition about what is in really good shape and what are you looking to do with it (DD or wheeling). But I have seen some nice looking rigs in the 3-10k range. Keep watching this site - both classifieds on this forum and also the Vehicles For Sale Section.

There is some Toyota shop in Lake Arrowhead that has a big yellow sprung over one for sale. Don't really know much more about it, haven't seen it, just told about it this week. There used to be a mud member that had a 55 in arrowhead, mtnpig or something of the sorts, maybe he can chime in.

Thanks for all the great replys, to be more specific what I'm looking for is one that sombody has already done all the work. I'm ready and willing to pay 15~20K for one that has a V8 conversion, disk brakes and 4 speed gearbox. As a plus no rust and a 4~6 inch lift. 77 ~79. Ok, I know I maybe dreaming but I can say for sure it would have a good home. Oh yea Red & White would top it off.

surfer2001 - I'm finishing up a rolling restoration on my Pig and was planning on putting it up for sale in the next month. It is a stock '76 with the in line 6, 4 speed, front disk brakes, rear drums, painted 6 months ago with rusted metal cut out and new metal welded back in, Green & White. Some threads with pics are below. I'm looking to get $16.5 for it.
