this is what I got for Christmas, a cool tailgate lid. Took very little time to install. Actually quite a bit of room in there, I filled it up to see what would fit. I got a 25 ft air hose, tow strap, folding shovel, siphon :) , gloves, and some jumper cables in there. I plan on lining it with some Dynamat or something like that just in case something moves around too much and dents from the inside. Heres a link to a youtube install I videotaped. Its only 3 minutes long. Oh, and some pictures.

You lucky dog. Those things are so cool, definitely on my wish list.

Do you have a dog? If so, how is the traction on that thing for a dog. Mine usually grips her claws into the carpet so i am kind of hesitant to get on the waiting list.

:clap:That is a nice set up Shannon - what is the ballpark for the $ of that lid?

where is the hose for sucking gas

He hasnt picked up this 4th place drill pump prize yet. It would fit back there with some hose and a cheap battery powered drill. Now just to remember to keep the battery charged...:hillbilly:

I have a small dog, so I dont load her in the back. The surface wouldnt be friendly to a dog trying to climb or jump in, the one I have anyway. Wagongear does sell a surface thats more grippy though.

If you dont get it from Santa, mine would be $415 shipped. Wagongear has more expensive options, latches and surfaces, but mine is the bare bones one.

It didnt take any time at all, the time consuming part was trying to balance a washer and locknut on your finger to thread each bolt thru. Theres got to be trick for situations like that.

You dont see the hose in there, with the gloves on top? Oh I remembered to put that in there. A cheap drill and a my drill pump prize will be added later.

I'm sure he can turn it with his lips, he has plenty of experience.
One of those old hand drill types might be a good idea.

Rob-:flipoff2: I got something you can turn homo!

John- Wagongear makes all the lids like that. I did send him an email about that hinge being the way possibly. There is a few reasons it isnt, the major one is that theres little room to work with on the outside edge for the latch, plus the latch closed tightens against a extra piece of metal that is visible once the tailgate section is cut out. Theres more info about the subject on his site, or you can just email him and he will gladly send you a direct link to this very question asked before and answered. He did say he could make it happen if thats what you really wanted.

Any plans to re-route the wires? Seems like they are in the way. Cool piece of kit.

Put a aux tank in there would make all of us a lot more happier then waiting around watching you suck on someone hose.

what makes you believe he would remember to fill that one up ?

Brittan- Im thinking of getting the Dynamat in there and hopefullly that once thats done it will cover them up from getting wrecked.

You ladies enjoyed watching me suck hose, admit it? Freaks!! No plan for an aux fuel tank, just have to remember to fill up. Let it go already:mad:

The grip material is still slick, but it does add extra traction for dogs claws, I have 2 dogs I load in through the back and the grip material on mine.

The trick to holding a nut and washer that I use is some of the 3M green body shop masking tape. Just put the tape around the bottom of the wrench that holds the nut from falling and leave enough tape to grab the washer on top of the wrench. :wrench: You will be amazed at how many different chances you will have to use that trick in tight spots.

What a coincidence!! I just happen to have an Aux Tank for you. Would 44 gallons be enough? :meh: :hillbilly:

The trick way is to get an old one, dead batteries, make a cord to run it off of the rig battery. Now a corded 12V drill.
