that's the later signal.

which one? mine or the one from sor? these are definitely different as they dont have the three set screws but actually screw into the housing itself. i wonder if there is a place that can reproduce them. i think it would be pretty frikkin sweet to have new lenses in the lamps. anyone know if the original front lense was clear or amber?

These are early FJ40 turn signals, and D'Animal has been working with someone to reproduce them using some pretty clean originals Dan found on his older 40.

There is a thread here somewhere about this work...when they will be ready I do not know...but at least they are in progress.

Drop D'Animal a PM (not sure if he'll be the one selling them) and add your name to the list

The "mods" are only trying to help. ;) You are officially in the Twilight Zone of unobtainium. Not long ago only a few folks were even aware of these lights.

Try to hook up with D'animal on this, he had taken the initiative before. The hard work of a few individuals have made items like these become available before..........for a very limited demand.

I might add you want to get in on the first order. I plan to order two sets plus a spare set. What has happened in the past and will probably happen again is to keep the price down a good size number will be made. After the people who spoke up are taken care of the rest will be sold to somebody like SOR who will mark the price up as is the case with a business. Since they will have to pay up front and probably take years to sell them it's only fair. I was lucky and managed to get some of the small rear tail lights but was not lucky enough to be on the clear bib lights. So I going to have to bite the bullet and buy some from SOR.

Thanks for the tip. I should pick up a few sets. Out of all the early clear bib lights I have I doubt I could get one good set. That's off of seven or eight bibs.

I see they have the listing for the early front turn signals wrong. The round ones they have say early to 67. They are for the 64 thru early 69 models

That is a better price for the clear lens, I'll probably stock up on a few. Headlight buckets are interesting too, need to look into that. Be careful on the others though, like the bib lights are around $10 from Toyota. ;)

I do like the description about the pre-DOT clear lenses and how they're correct for pre '65 and all.............but no mention of the SAE67 cast into the lens. ;p

Body color, as far as I know.

yes - they were body color, but when i ordered new turn-signals from toyota for my 63fj45, i just left them silver because they look good with the green, imho.

If you end up buying new lamps (like you saw on my 45) for your cruiser - and use those until you can get repo-lenses for your double-sided signals, I wouldn't see that as distracting from the restoration job.

ps. let me know on the fuel bowls.
