Cut it!! Cut the ugly logo out of the bumper. Looks much cleaner.Got my bumper yesterday! Missing the tie-in plates, but they are expediting them. Can't decide if I should risk it, and start cutting and install prep now, so I can do the install Fr/Sat as planned and risk them not showing up, or just suck it up for another week for them to arrive and take more time off work to do the install. Customer service has been great to work with, but damn, I ordered this on August 8th of last year...
So here's the thing. I ordered mine already powder coated, so I'd have to touch up the cuts. I don't mind a logo, but it blocks like 10% of the light...Cut it!! Cut the ugly logo out of the bumper. Looks much cleaner.
Location really depends on how you have recontoured your power steering lines. Mine are all out of whack from the Ironman installation. So here's the thing. I ordered mine already powder coated, so I'd have to touch up the cuts. I don't mind a logo, but it blocks like 10% of the light...
BTW, my tie in plates showed up yesterday, so install set for this weekend. Just double checking, there were no other instructions than the video, right? I've got several bolts in not sure what they're for. And no hole in the tie in bracket for ps line clamp. I understand easier to drill before mounting. How critical is location, and anyone have the dimensions for the hole?
Sounds like a box is missing from the shipment? Could have been lost in transit or we could have always forgot a box on the pallet. There is a chance that those parts are still on backorder as well. Shoot us an email and customer service can figure out what's up. Or call on Monday and we'll get it figured out. Sorry for the hassle!Just picked up my order from the fedex freight center in LA. After 90+ days of waiting, I'm somewhat disappointed, as I'm missing a number of items in my order:
I'll have to give them a ring after the Holiday weekend and see if they can get me all squared away. The products look well built though - build quality looks great!
- Spare tire mount to adventure carrier
- Camer relocation kit
- O-Rings and hardware for rear bumper

I already f*&in' hate my Smittybilt, and the bumper isn't even on yet. The stupid XLR connector is stuck in the control box after one insertion. One. And of course customer support is closed on the holiday weekend. Will not be installing it on the rig, will unbolt from the bumper and return and go another direction before bolting the bumper on. Hopefully Smittybilt/4Wheel parts don't give me too much hassle...Folks do well with Smittybilt winches. Each to their own.
If I didn't have a Warn I'd seriously look at Come Up. I had a good conversation with the owner at SEMA in 2019.
Try to remote mount the solenoid box to afford better winch line/drum access and visibility.
That’s unfortunate. Look at Come Up, the external cone break is a solid design. Obviously Warn are a solid choice as well.I already f*&in' hate my Smittybilt, and the bumper isn't even on yet. I looked at them last night. The new 9.5 slim looks to possibly fit the bill. There's a definite gap in winch price points. It seems you're either under $600, or over $1,000. But I thought the Strike bumper design wasn't too bad? The fairlead hole is oversized enough that the rope seems to always rest on the hawes fairlead, and avoid the right-angle edge of the hole cut-out? Even with the fairlead at a 45 degree angle relative to the line. That’s unfortunate. Look at Come Up, the external cone break is a solid design. Obviously Warn are a solid choice as well.
Regardless of what you buy look closely at how the rope comes off the drum. Before I modified my bumper the rope would chaff on hole cut out for the line. IDK if all winch models have this issue. Mine is a Warn Zeon 10S. Not really a winch issue more of a bumper design issue. Unfortunately I didn’t take any pictures as I knew mine would be modified..

Thank you both for your input! Huge shout out to 4WheelParts in my hometown for making this as painless as possible. Instead of making me go through Smittybilt warranty hassles, they took it back (with the stuck controller dangling and all), and applied the balance to a Warn VR EVO 10-S. They offered a new control box and remote, but I have no confidence in the cheap parts used in the Smittybilt design. I had disassembled the control box and still couldn't get the cable disconnected. I should have read the reviews more carefully. Looking forward to the wireless remote option. We run a lot of Evo VR8-S's on shop rigs. Love the Zeon and have a few, but the smaller size of the VR and the wireless remote is really nice. Haven't had a VR let us down and we've probably run more than a dozen different ones on various shop trucks. They are made in China, so there is that; but being backed by a company like Warn means replacement parts and customer service for years after the model is discontinued.
Another great option is looking for an old made in the USA winch from the major manufacturers. There is some solid old iron out there and usually, they are totally rebuildable.

Back to the regularly scheduled bumper discussion, which I can't wait to get on, but will probably be Friday now...

Duly noted.I advise caution with the wireless remotes. With numerous wireless items and bluetooth items quite few fellow trainers have experienced uncommanded input to the wireless remote winches. The last thing you want when your hands are in the drum correcting an issue. The other issue I find very irritating with the wireless remote is they time out and shut off.
I agree, also another point is that for how often you use your winch, when the time comes to use it, how many years has that wireless remote been in your glove box without ever having the batteries changed??I advise caution with the wireless remotes.
