Only tree we had to cut off the road was 50ft from our campsite. Was a big mofo though, and finished us off. Props to Jon who did a lot of cutting on it.

After dinner first night checking out the area. Little tin boat seems to hold water. But one oar is half busted off.

River out flow from lake. Easy to row to, super hard to walk to

There is a major water fall below this; we couldn’t get to it

After coming down from the lake, we did a bunch of other exploring around Kunlin, and past Kunlin up the river toward Donner.

Thanks for taking all the photos, guys! Donner Lake is a treasure. I'm going to look for a set of used oars to upgrade the broken
Simpson-Sears specials, least I can do.

Looks like an awesome spot, and the right amount of 4wheeling to get there. Wish I could have made it.

Trip in was about 3.5hours and took us prolly less than a hour..:)

Confidence was high as we knew most of the lines, really impressed with the little LJ with small slightly agressive tires...it worked really well..

John rode in front of me for only a short stint at the exit, his probably worked the best as his OME suspension was set into a low flat springs that just worked great, long wheel base also shined..

Mine did very well but the rear heavy OME in the back of my truck are still very stiff, might drop yet another leaf.. would really like to drop my ride height a few inches.. This was apparent in my Go Pro videos that John had set up on the front of his truck, after watching them I could see how stiff the suspension really was..

Only mechanical, Campbell river, my truck was ticking kinda like an exhaust leak, turned out one of the glows had back all the way out:eek:, few minutes later with Nicks tools I had it fixed.

I came very il prepared and relied heavily on John and Nick for utensils and other items, thanks again guys...

Thanks to Nick
for setting this one up.

You're welcome Jon; glad you liked the location. Was a pleasure to be with you guys, and I was happy to learn from more experienced wheelers.

I think Rob meant to say : Trip in was about 3.5hours and took us prolly less than a hour to get out..:)

You're welcome Rob for the tools etc.

So on another note, just calculated my highway economy. About 680kms round trip on highway and I averaged 11.5l/100km. Very happy with that, as we were driving pretty hard (110km on the highway, and pushing hard through the twisties to Gold River). Also, used 14l of diesel with about 7 hours of engine running while wheeling in/out and exploring around Kunlin. I had weighed in at the scales at 2350kg.

John rode in front of me for only a short stint at the exit, his probably worked the best as his OME suspension is in a perfect shackle angle..

Oh yeah, I can't wait to see the GoPro video! If I'd have remembered, I would have checked it's waterproofness on the
creek crossing!! ;)

We should start a VI cruisers youtube account....I got a bunch of videos too, but not sure how to host them.

Good job lads. Glad all went well.

I'd have loved to come along.

Yep. Learned a lot about the G Pro, we should of had it on for longer stints, but it was fun to finally try it..
