That roof rot doesn’t look promising, but not many left to buy up here at any price.
I saw that, I could fix that in a couple hours. Complete actual stock running truck and being fundamentally quite rare.
I'd think if interested it's worth a look.

Hey Folks!

I have an HJ60 that I really want to keep alive. My frame is pretty toast, and I feel like I'm running out of options for repairs and need to start looking for a donor frame and potentially body. Does anyone have a line on a potential donor on Vancouver Island and/or on the coast somewhere?

Best advice is scour FB posts. There are a couple up in the interior for sale, but you'll need to go a see them first hand.
Sadly South Island Imports closed for retirement and he had a couple of decent trucks out back that ultimately were
just crushed. Phone around wrecking yards, too. Couple on the island, but you'd have to find 2-3 and come over and
look em over.

Thanks for the advice!

Damn, that's sad about south island imports. I'll keep an eye out for them! I feel like they're only ever parted out FOR their rusted body and frame...tough out there!

I believe some have swapped in an 80 series frame and suspension… I’d consider it.

Looking a fuse box cover for a 78 fj40.

The one with the short little radio fuse at the bottom. They changed in late 77, and probably changed again in 79.

How’s that time machine coming along? The standard for decent has fallen a long way in the last decade or three.

@stevebradford? How’s your frame stash looking these days?

Chances are slim, but I’ll ask. Anyone have a driver’s side floor… before I start building one from scratch?

Passenger side is also bad, but…
IMG_3381.jpeg

I’ve already got a decent passenger side and a decent trans tunnel.

I’ve got some 1/2 steel plate to tie the cage into the frame mounts.

And a beautiful sheet of stainless steel to fabricate a floor from.

The seller states they have a ‘78 40 frame also. They are asking $3800 for the ‘81 3b, frame, and running gear…

Hey friends,
I’m looking for a 24v harness for an 1988 hj61/12ht (manual transmission) RHD
and any advice on replacing the turbo, original one was stolen 🤬, I don’t need anything fancy would be happy to get a stock equivalent replacement, or if you have CT26 you can part with 🤷🏻‍♀️ I just want my truck back on the road. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Stolen? Crap I can barely get the thing off when I got time. Then why would you need the entire harness? What’s the problem with it?

short story is I left it with a mechanic who went on a coke bender and kept it for 8mo. When I finally managed to get it back it was in pieces with no turbo. He denies taking it apart…🙄
As for the wiring harness, a wire (the horn I think) ran hot and melted everything else in the bundle on that side, along with shoddy electrical tape fixes by the previous owner it’s likely going to be easier to put in a new whole harness, or at least that bundle, than it’s is to rebuild or replace the wiring. I’m no electrician but I don’t have the funds to pay one for that many hours when I can strugglebus myself. Who doesn’t love swearing at wiring gremlins 😅

Just had mine apart. I created my own mess but I have hopefully got a nice connector rebuild set. Best to do is isolate first. LABEL everything. If I unplug a switch when it comes off the dash it gets plugged back in but generally plugs are different enough they won’t mix up. Find all the burnt wires. Be surprised but with a few hrs - read: days - you can get connections repaired. Use same gauge and so long as wires are labelled colour isn’t as important.

Yellow painters tape and fine sharpie. I made a few a bit large so try to write a bit smaller but it works and believe me I came back to some of this after 6-7 yrs and it was easier.

This thread has some wiring diagrams in it if you strike out on a full harness. Thread 'Gauge wiring diagram HJ61' Gauge wiring diagram HJ61 - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/gauge-wiring-diagram-hj61.1056684/

And there's some 60 diagrams if you scroll way down on here.

Toyota were pretty good about using the same colours across vehicles. It mostly
makes sense once you get your head around it.

Except for the ground switching headlight s***. That's ****ing brain melting.🤣

I have a stock ct26 but it's kinda my spare in case something stupid happens. Plus it'll be missing the exhaust dump because it's on my new one, so it wouldn't really help you 100% anyway.
