Holy crap I want to do this

Brian and I had talked about doing that a few years ago but never go around to any serious planning. :frown:

I'd love to do it. Truck is armored, electrified, and expedition ready. I'd need to go over the mechanicals, but it COULD be possible this year. More so than Moab/Rubicon :(

Would be awesome to have something along these lines here -- Mountains to Sea Overland for NC! There is plenty of adventure to be had end to end here in NC.

As a new 100 owner, not sure I'm ready for something like VOT, but it sure looks fun!

It wouldn't work here. We only have about 27 miles of legal trails in the whole state. Everything else is either graded Forrest service roads (and many of those are gated off) or private land. It sux because there is tons of wide open land here.... Just not for public use of that kind.:frown:

I have talked this over with Lisa and I think we are for the trip, with the exception of her not being able to get the time off.

I looked on Youtube for any videos of the trails and wasn't able to find a tone of stuff, but the ones I found looked very easy. The only thing that bother me is that on the VO site it shows a D10 sunk in a river crossing, not exactly how I want my trip to end ;).

I have emailed Rodney at Performance Unlimited to find out his suggested minimum requirements for the trails. I will post up what I am able to find out.

I wonder if any of the other clubs are planning on going and can shed some light on the difficulty of the trails.

I think those are from the Camel Trophy, as there are a bunch of palms/palmettos along the banks. Not native Vermont underbrush!

Some of those D110 pics are from camel trophy, I recognize them from the videos I used to watch as a kid.

From the looks of the pics and the look of the rigs at the camp site and the fact that its more of an overland trip competition in the US and not Malaysia or Africa i'd say that a locked 80 with a mild lift and 33's would do fine.... hell i'm sure a bone stock 80 could make it with some good spotting. Hell the Range Rovers, Disco's and Defenders in the camel trophy were all stock and unlocked with the only mods being HD springs for added weight of all the supplies, winch and the offroad lights, so i'm sure its possible with a stock unlocked 80 with a few recovery supplies.

I think i'd like to do this next year, I seriously doubt this year is in the cards for me right now.

Currently trucks are Jon and me with Rich as co driver. Second co-driver is TBD... we have a couple of people on deck pending the status of personal family situations as we get closer to the event.
