Im on the process of replacing the valve cover spark plug seals and I noticed I have scored the seal surface in a few areas. Should I be concerned? I forgot to take a picture before I dropped it off at the machine shop to get cleaned (im doing a head gasket) . I was thinking maybe a thin rtv coat before i put the new seals in? Those seals kicked my butt! Anybody have any advice? Thanks!

If I was going to the trouble of having my head removed and rebuilt, I'd make sure all of the sealing surfaces were flat and smooth. These seals do leak over time, and the effect on engine performance is probably negligible, but still...

Gents, can someone weigh in on this? I don't know if it was me or it was there previously but this is a score mark where my plug seals seat. I can feel it with my fingernail. Can I use some fine sandpaper or emery cloth to rub this out (sts)?
